Ever listened to the HL2 intro song? I mean, straight from the gfc? Well you may have noticed it uses the manhack engine's sound in it several times(its the high pitched noise thats kinda goes wweeeweeeWEEeeeEEEEeewwwe). Anyway I did a little searching and found that the entire song is made of up different ambient sounds from the game. The main part is sound/levels/citadel/citadel_droneloop1.wav. I haven't found all the sounds yet, but I just thought that was cool and I would share it.

I consider it a song. Heck I listen to it every now and then. Its an mp3 but the song itself is composed of various ambient sounds from the game.

All to create the ambience. They are hell of good atmosphere makers with music. I have all the hl1 and 2 songs on my winamp playlist.

Heck I use hl2_song02 because it has none of the noises and it's great for dream sequences :)

Also, since you pointed this out, the song includes the sound of the anti-maspectrometre* from the start of HL1.

I thought it was an "anti-mass spectrometer"? :P

I think we use 'er' for meters (devices taking readings), too. Not positive, but pretty sure.

Where do you get the mp3 from? In the GCF? Which one? Which Directory?

My favorite "ambient sound" song is probably HL2 song2. Song 1 is cool too but too short.

Source sounds.gfc music folder. Go nuts

Yeah, i noticed the spectroimeter, kinda hard to miss ;)

It's in d1_trainstation_02, after you pass the house in the alley where the two citizens are talking and the metrocops are taking over the block (where the playground is, with the swings and the merry-go-round.)

The only music I can recall that had a major impact was the stuff when you get into Ravenholm, that stuff was quite spooky!

7th Monkey, its "metre" other here in the UK.

Isn't 'metre' the measurement? I assume Seventh is correct.

'Metre' = measurement (example: 3 metres)
'Meter' = like... the other meter

Be an american! See how long you can go using feet inches and yards!

Uh, we use inches and feet all the time. Pints and miles are commonplace, too.
