nah its still 1000 according to the forum, atom probably didn't expect there to be more than 1000 posts and so somehow created a 9 6/7ths of a bit data type

that's because 1000 bytes does not equal a KB 1024 or something ...
Posted 20 years ago2004-02-06 16:02:37 UTC Post #15465
1KB = 1024bytes and 1MB = 1024KB! It works the same for GB and TB.

Well played.

There are both decimal and binary kilobytes/megabytes/etc.

1000B = one decimal KB
1000M = one decimal gig

It should also be noted (read: I also want to show off that I know) that 1b means one bit, not a byte. 1B is a byte (upper-case). That may explain confusing Windows DUN settings for some people telling 56kers they're connected at 56,000k :D

HAHA on dial-up eh? well it bugs me when a wireless PCMCIA card says 54Mbps (which in fact is only about 7MBps) , my two cents....

I am developing a site in php at the moment. It is in a very early stage of development and doesn't have a server yet. I may host it off my broadband connection when I get my new modem working! I am making my own login scripts, download system and some other stuff. I am making all of the graphics by my self using Fireworks. It has a nice layout using it's framset system.
