One think that really pisses me off is religious parents brainwashing their children

If you have religious parents and you say that you are a believer, can you honestly say it's because you truly believe in that crap? Or is it because you've been taught from the beginning to believe?

My religious beliefs (never faith, but I'm hoping to find something to grap onto soon) are always changing. Today I could say atheist and laugh at you, tomorrow I'm not so sure. Point is, I'm doubting religions and It's working for me now. But I've jumped from too many ideas to take heed to, other than the one idea that you should be skeptical. Ironically I pray.

I may have an eternally damned soul.

Don't even get me started. Never ever force people to believe something.

Also, remeber that in England it's allowed for gay couples to get married?
Well, fair enough. They are non-belivers. But when religous people come and protest saying "It's a sin!!", and trying to stop it, well, they are interfeering in other peoples lives. That's not right. Sure they can say "We dont like it, but we gotta live with it". They cant say "OMG!!1! religion decides to make non-religous people not get married LOllz!1!11".

URG! I hate it. :furious: :furious:

If god created everything, then he created gay people. It seems that god intentionally created gay people to go to hell.. Makes no sense..

About evolution, we were learning today in biology about how species differ and adapt to suit their surroundings. Theres a scientific fact about how if a population divides and has no contact to each other, and if the two areas have diffrent environmental settings, then, they will soon gain new instincts, look, and change to adapt to their new environments. Thats why people in colder areas like alaska are short to maintain body temperature, and why the people in japan have those stretch eye creases where most others do not, because the population moved and isolated from each other. The people from these areas did not integrate because of transportation and tradition. Therefore, since modern transportation will never allow that to happen with humans again, I believe we will not evolve anything new any longer. What will happen now is that every person of every race, country, and color will keep "mating" untill every person on earth will have the same skin color, yet have the blood from every previous race, country, and color.. thats my theory..

Of course we will evolve. for instance, maybe in the future we won't have to walk to get anywhere, then we will evolve into a species without legs. (extreme example :P )

I dont believe we will ever stop using our legs. That will be cause for obese people, eliminate sports, and things of that nature.... much more crap than enjoyment.

Most religions are tainted by eliticism and exclusivism. Perfect examples are Christianity and Islam--if you're not one of us, then you must be against us. There is no tolerance for any other way of thinking except their own.

You can tell that I am not religious.

Therefore, violent conflicts ensue. I can confidently say that world peace would never be possible as long as we have these religions.

The only religion that does not endorse violence and eliticism is Buddhism. Have you ever heard of a Buddhist terrorist? Or a Buddhist Crusade?

I dont agree. The principles of Christianity (some shared by Islam) speak against eliticism and exclusivism. If we talk about "sins", killing is considered a major sin. So the Crusades went against the principles of Christianity and therefor cannot be atributed to the christian doctrine. It has more to do with greed, political decissions and all that crap from the Middle Ages.
As for Islam, I'm not quite sure if the early writings encouraged the "Holy war" and killing of innocents. Maybe the "Holy war" was a response to the crusades. Either way, religion is an excuse in both these cases, not a cause.

Let's say that I blew myself up tomorrow claiming to do so in the name of Buddhism. Would you think Buddhism endorses violence then? Nope. Because I'd be doing something which Buddhism is against. :)

I don't get why people care so much. Religion is a very good thing, People just take it wrong sometimes, I've stated it before.

Just stick with the ten comandments (Which are simple morals) and everything will be alright.

I have a high tolerance for diversity. I don't really care what you believe, just as long as it doesn't interfere with me or anyone else that could remotely involve me in the future. I think it's wrong to ban, suspend, censor, or do anything like that based on religion. It's just wrong. I don't care what you think, by god if I want to read harry potter I'm gonna do it! Get outta my way bitch! I'll say the lords name in vain if I want to? Oh My God does it have anything to do with you?!

Now other people like islamic people I won't do that to..cause they'll probably kill me...lol

Yay! finally someone who isn't a total tard when it comes to religion.
(besides the whole islamic thing, I mean, I feel bad for them, cause Islam is actually a religion about peace, but some certain people (taliban, shiets) perverted it, and yes, i do know your probably being sarcastic, but ohwell)

Unfortunately, we all become dirt after we die.

But that's more reason why we should value life more and treat everyone else around us nicely when we have the chance.

Yeah, you can look at it that way.

As Mufasa said, it's just the Circle of Life.

I would start a new thread for this but I think this tightly ties in with what we are discussing here:

What is your opinion on the following statement:

"Everything has a beginning and an end, 1 = 1 = 1 until you add something to it"

It fits in nicely since we are discussing whether God/Gods/A devine creator exist(s). I would like to know if anyone else, like me, agrees with that statement but does not believe in God.

I am so lost, Are you saying that I am not considerate of other people 7th? Arn't you saying religion is a bad thing?, That people shouldn't believe in it. How is that considerate? Your contradicting yourself. And how is leaving people alone not considerate? To much stupidity oozing from the thread.
