I can't seem to play mp3s in Opera. I've made sure that "enable web sounds" is checked and I've messed around with the others ettings but no go. Do any of you know how to enable mp3s in Opera because I'm driving myself crazy.

Whatever is the default music player for opera, reinstall it.

Such as, WMV is my default music player for FF, so if my music didnt work with Firefox, i'd reinstall WMV.

I used to have the same problem with Firefox, , but for some reason you need Quicktime Player installed. Once I Installed Media Player Classic with Quicktime Altenative, it worked fine--I refuse to use Apple products.

Perhaps Opera will work too once you've installed Quictime, or Quicktime Alternative.

Rowley, see my post. I had the same problem. Fixed it right up.

I already have Quicktime, I've had it for a long time and I even had to update it when I downloaded iTunes(which sucks, only use it for putting music on an iPod!!!). Didn't work then, obviously it doesn't work now

My default media player for everything is WMP. I don't remember having to set up a default media player for Opera when I installed it either, is there a setting for Opera's media player? I see this among many other media player settings(most of which are for WMP):I saw that in tool>advanced>plugins. Is there any way to edit that?

Edit: If there is a link directly to an mp3 then Opera can play the mp3 with quicktime, it just doesn't play mp3s in web pages(in the background). Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Like i said, ususally when you reinstall the media device, it installs the proper things to the browser.

Agreed. I think YTMND has issues with Opera and is therefore not worth my attention.

Meh -if you REALLY want YTMND - just use IE... it's always there.. you can't get rid of it. It's like a fungus.

Its not just for YTMND, God knows I'd use something else for that if that were the only website I was having problems with. All background mp3s don't work. All mp3s for all websites and it gets very annoying.

I'm not sure what the issue is concerning it, but I think that Opera is coded to not play them. Similar to the total disconnection to ActiveX that it has.

Background MP3's are annoying as hell anyway. For me, anyway.

You can remove the IE executable, but the IE engine is built into Explorer, no way to remove it unless you have another filemanager/shell, (without causing problems).
