It's so true though, because it is 3d still, but it's viewed on a 2d side-scrollerish style...

I like Urbanebula's. It doesn't sound cheesy, as though the main point of the mod is its technical features, yet it still says something about it. I might go for "Lost Dimension" myself, though. Any mod that has Half- or -Life in its name sounds really uninspired.

Alright then, if thats what u think, then... Flat-lyef...
It doesn't have Half- OR -Life in it, just a word that sounds like life...

Half Life 2: Episode 2: 2D, 2

but then you need a snazzy tag line on the end of the title, yknow, like 'action game 2: the killing'

Half Life 2: Episode 2: 2D 2, the 2nd Dimension

or HL2:EP2:2D2,t2D for short. it rolls right off the tongue.
Posted 17 years ago2007-11-13 22:02:44 UTC Post #238411
I suppose this isn't really a bug, but when you want to change the physics at the start of the game, you have to use a trigger_once because it uses the locus system to affect the player. So on Tetrisitis, I couldn't use a trigger_auto. Is there any way to fix this? And how can I get it to play mp3 files?
Posted 17 years ago2007-11-13 23:42:21 UTC Post #238425
2D is a good name for it. Reminds me of 6D. Maybe something like "Two-Dimension"

I thesaurus'd some of these. All of which would make good names.

Scope
Ambit
Sardined
Vicinity
Zero Elbowroom
Sweep

Next version is coming soon, and it'll be awesome, fixing all mentioned bugs and adding a lot of new features.
Still haven't decided on name, though.

I say name it that. Being its an awesome mod it wouldn't hurt it any, infact it might intice more to look into a mod named "Half-Good"

I don't get such a charm with 6D. :(

thanks blitz

Either way, if i had another good name, i would change the name of my mod, but it kinda stuck the way it is. Even though it has nothing to do anything, its just a strange generic term for a strange generic mod with lots of weird crap. I guess maybe thats why I haven't cahnged it. :/

either way, my vote is still for Half-Good. Which it doesn't need to mean anything. Like whats that mod called... Half-Life: Arrange Mode

Don't do what valve did and name a Portal game "Portal"

They should have kept Narbocular Drop. Sounds cooler and doesn't mean anything.

Names that DO mean something have an awful amount to do with it. Usually heavy in storyline and the name is really faithful to it.

Halo is about the Forerunner's Halo devices.

In contrary; Half-Life is not a game about radioactive decay but still has to do with science, mostly the facility. If the game was about formulating chemistry, and technology to fight an onslaught of aliens, it might be a little more suiting.

narbAcular drop. i'm glad they didn't keep that, it's a mouthful. Names need to be easy to remember and say. No one is going to forget what Portal is called then they tell their friends about this cool new game that they heard.

Game Developer did an article about Narbacular Drop, it was pretty cool. I had never really looked at the game until then.

Just added quite the awesome feature ;p
I remade the menu to have an automatic level selection, and it also gets information about updates and new maps from the internets.

Screenshot later.

I've also made the base for updating certain textures from the internet such as signs and billboards at runtime, but i'm not sure if I'm gonna finish it.

You should be getting the new version in a few days. ;p

Almost done with the new version now, so here's the changelog. If you know any bug that's not on the list, please let me know!!1

does the player's jump animation play again when you double-jump or wall-jump? so the player doesn't look like a stiff board bouncing around the map.

Other than that, its great so far!

I think you've covered some good limitations and improved the overall easiness of mapping. I'm still making the gangster maps but I'm not working on them hard, just every now and then. I'll post some pics soon.

Yep it does, just forgot to put in changelog. :P
Another thing that's not in the log is that scripted_sequences now work properly.

Got an idea, why just platform-gameplay?
Could have the mod as a platform for all kinds of 2Dish gameplay types, so I just added an entirely new type of gameplay. Flat-Life now features Platform and TopDown Shooter-type maps.
