crollo you're either missinformed or an asshole, anyway I might as well add a graph of my maps too like everyone else!

map 1: 95% Large map with ages of work, still might need some tweaks.

map 2: 80% Need to finish transaction between map 2 and 3, and fix a lot of bugs.

map 3: 50% This is a quite small map containing the ending to the whole thing so I'll be able to get it finished (or at least without tweaks) before the compo ends.

If I remember correctly Skals was away on vacation for a few weeks, giving him less than two months.

My efforts kind of petered out when I realised that the layout of my map was huge and open, meaning there would be next to no way to effectively do a changelevel. And the 60% of the first map that I had already done almost filled the grid, so a changelevel would have been necessary.

Mine's getting released i guarantee it.
I'm doing all the level changes right now.

Once those are done i'll go back and flesh everything out.

If the level changes work flawlessly, i'll be happy releasing the maps as-is.

But i'd be ecstatic if they're to my standards.

mk. My schedule this week looked like 50 hours of school "including homework and places I had to visit". 13 hours of work this weekend. Roughly 5 hours of sleep each night. 4 workouts. And mapping in between. Its definitely taking a toll on my body.

Today before I go to work i'll create all missing level transitions and record two songs. :crowbar:

i feel much like joebama in that i lost the will to map recently fsr, just opening up the editor for 5 minutes and then losing interest. That said tho i think i have enough done that i can finish it by the deadline. Plus, work really kicked my ass the later part of this month, but if Zeeba can finish all those maps with his schedule, i guess none of us have a real excuse not to be finished.

That said i would also greatly appreciate a small extension if one were granted :)

There's a lot more i'd like to do with map 1. But at this point in time, i'll consider it finished.

Ending map - took me only 5 or so hours to really finalize - could be better, but time allowing, i'll spruce it up a bit.
Now for map 3!
Lots of work to do here. Mostly entity stuff, squad scripting, lots of level changes occur with this level (think of it as the central hub) so Map 2 is the pain in the ass map.

Doesn't matter, everybody was given (over) 2 months to map, those 2 months passed, and that's that, if we extended the comp for everybody who had a 'vacation' then we wouldn't have any comps.

Are you even entering crollo? If not than I don't see why you care. As for the extension; it would be nice but without it I will just wrap up what I have and finish quickly. I've already thrown together the end so it wouldn't help me much.

hey uh.... skals...
mod structure - 98%
Your entry must NOT be in mod format. If you have custom content, the content should be zipped in the appropriate folder structure.
And soup, everything was subdivided, but i just did it wrong, instead of making say a 6 sided displacement with 3 brushes, i made a 6 sided displacement with 6 brushes.

Looks MUCH better! =]

Admins said we should put them in mod structures if custom things like models were used so that we don't overwrite other people's stuff.

That's what I did, I got the dlls to make the mod work, I added a custom background to the mod and I changed the liblist to be singleplayer only and start with the first map, I also configurated the new game menu to include a better overview of the three dificulties and changed the skill settings so that you don't get completely annihilated on hard setting.

Haven't changed anything else, just made the mappack look a little nicer.

i think you can just change the liblist to steal off of the dll in the original valve folder. otherwise you might get disqualified for using custom code. even though it probably isn't

Thanks I'll try this! Hopefully then I won't get viciously assaulted by noobs telling me that I haxed the dll's!

Ok so, I don't think I can do that, If I change the line to

hold on, i'll find out how valve did it.

EDIT: ok, replace the gamedll line with this (straight from the uplink demo liblist file)

gamedll "..\hldm\dlls\hl.dll"

but change the "hldm" to valve and you're all set

I'm going to do a final test an then upload it... Just to clarify penguinboy, I have my map pack in a mod format but I linked the liblist to hl1 dlls so it doesn't have any dlls, but I have a custom skill.cfg and a liblist, is that ok?

I'm going to be one of the judges this compo, and I'm not going to be too bitchy about entries. Just get the entry in and be sure it works.

I've already seen one entry that completely missed one of the rules and left me guessing what game it was even for.

Oh, crap. The folder in my entry's zip clearly says HL2, but I forgot a readme. Do I need to reenter? And if so, will that override my previous entry?

I'm currently extremely slowly uploading mine to file front. The size is 12mb but my internet connection here is just crap... And I hope my pc doesn't break down again while I'm uploading D:.

Readme? I didn't make one. I did however clearly state that it's a hl1 mod in the comment section, the admins should know how to deal with one of these already.

1. Turn the lights down low.
This, if you really want to play a map with all the atmosphere, turn your monitor brightness to 0 and set the contrast to 100, makes it so you can't actually see the parts of the map that are ACTUALLY dark.

Hell, if you haven't played the original half-life this way then you really should, the game looks great this way.
