Not quite thread-worthy, but much more than ShoutBOX worthy...

Rick Astley has released a new song. Putting the Rick Roll aside, this song in my opinion was pretty good considering that its not even my style of music.

Give it a chance and state your opinion below this line.

Yep, it's about time I got me a decent camera. Now bad photos will be entirely my fault. Ironically, this would be the very first time my finger slips into the frame (see 1st pic).

Unfortunately I suspect it has a hot pixel. I'll test it some more, I'd hate to have to return it.

So like I said in the ShoutBox, a huge lighting(it happened in the back of the flat, so I didn't actually catch the bolt in the footage) scared the shit out of me.

I bought Team Fortress2. Great investment :D.

Btw, nobody posted a new journal for a long time now, what's up? Broke on stories to tell?

[EDIT] Also found out strange medieval methods of obtaining KNO3 from, well, cow shit and urine. Medieval methods of producing chemicals FTW.

Well, holidays are officially here. Today was the last day of school. Friday will be the ending festivity, then 3 months of so-called freedom comes.
I say "so-called" because, strangely, even though I can't wait for the holidays, I know I only have 2 years of school left. Then the stress of exams will come, going to a college, not being sure of having a job in the future... ahh. It's becoming really hard to enjoy the moment and not think of tomorrow.

I borrowed some books from the school library over the holidays:Big Bang(it's actually a history of the understanding of the universe) and The elegant Universe about the theory of strings(because it has always been a mystery to me, and I want to understand them at least a bit).

Holidays also open the opportunity of experiments to me :D. I'm currently researching some ways of producing good rocket fuel with materials around the house. The current combination I'm trying is the substance from the match heads with sugar. I only tried it once, but I want to try some more, to see what proportions are good. I also think I should use powdered sugar.
Of course, it would be cool if I had some potassium nitrate or sodium nitrate. But that's hard to find these days :( (because of the terrorists, we who have good-intended hobbies have to suffer...).

[EDIT] Oh btw, remember this journal entry a bit of time ago?

"My desk is covered with maths formulas and types of exercises and math exercises papers... I'm tired. I hope I get at least 8 out of 10.
The semester test is tomorrow.

Wish me luck! :D"

I got 8 eventually :)).

This is mainly directed at World Crafter...I think. Is that his name or did he change it to something goat...Soup Miner.

Anyway knowing he likes anime I thought he might be interested in one called Ergo Proxy if he hasn't already seen it. I thought it was really good cause it's mature, dark, mysterious and sometimes mind fucking.

23 episodes. Check it.

It's fixed. Thank god. DLC works, game works, and I'm back to kicking arse in the capital wasteland.
PREVIOUS JOURNAL CONTENTS:
That's it. I can't do a thing to fix this without xlive.dll. The patch itself won't work with Vanilla Fallout 3 unless there's xlive.dll, the DLC won't work unless there's xlive.dll, and there's NO BLOODY XLIVE.DLL IN EITHER OF THE GOTY DISKS!
Someone, please PM me with a copy of xlive.dll from the latest version (1.7) of Fallout 3, and tell me where to put it. I've tried everything else I can think of, all the suggestions I've been given, and google doesn't yield anything but 'update the game'
This pisses me off. Please, someone get me that dll.

I am playing Alan Wake and I am shitting myself. Well not literally but nearly. I was in this bit where I had to turn the power on in my house. I was ment to go in a shed next to the house, but instead I went upstairs into the left room. There was a small picture on a study. I clicked it and got a proper shock. Well anyway, I restored the power and I went upstairs with my wife - to the opposite room. She just told me she has a surprise for me and its on the study in the 'other room'. :|. I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to see the picture before hand. and now I have to go back in there. dam.

As for the game itself, I've played it for like 1 hour now and I love it. The environments are 8.5/10, Sound 10/10 (its that good!), Lighting 9.5/10, Spookyness 10/10, story so far is very cloudy, yet I believe thats how it was intended, so 8/10 for that.
If you've got an Xbox and you don't mind scary games, you must play this one. It is quite brilliant. I love it. Alright, back to the game now. Wish me luck :|.

Edit: Ok i shat myself again. This game is fucking with my mind now.

Read this.

Pasted from my email.
"I found your email addresses on Mom's email program, so I hope this goes through ok.

I understand that Allan let you know that Mom passed away this morning, and that the funeral director talked with you.

Here is the obituary that we are putting together for the different papers. It may change slightly, but this is very close to what will be published. If you see anything that needs to be changed, please let me know asap.

The initial assessment of Mom's cancer showed that she had cancer in both lungs, a rib, her pelvis, her shoulder, on the adrenal glands, and on the tip of the pancreas. They also found that she had two blood clots in her right leg.

Mom cycled up and down several times while she was taking chemo. She was trying to keep it very hush-hush while she was selling the house in Thief River. Between the chemo, the cancer, and whatever else might have been going on she declined very rapidly. She was in the hospital for 6 days after the first chemo treatment, and went in last Tuesday after the 3rd treatment. They did a CT scan to see if the chemo was working at all, and found that she had a blood clot in one of her lungs.

Mom decided that enough was enough, and decided to go into hospice last Friday. She was better on Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday. Tuesday morning when I talked to her she was ready to go. She was in some pain, and wanted some drug relief. Tuesday night about 10pm they called me to say that her breathing had changed, and that she was becoming unresponsive. I stayed with her overnight, and she passed this morning at about 11 am.

She loved the hospital, the doctors, the nurses, and the hospice staff. They kept her comfortable, and the end came quickly when it was her time.

I hope this gives you some idea of how Mom passed.

-Norm

This is the long version that will be customized for the various papers:

Leona J Muzzy, 74, of Thief River Falls, MN, and Cedar Falls, IA, died Wednesday, June 2, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, IA.

Leona was born to Henry and Bessie (Haggerty) Madison, December 7, 1935 in Nebish, MN. Leona graduated from Bemidji High School and from Teacher Training at Thief River Falls. She taught school in Grygla for several years. She married Erwin Muzzy in June 1955. They farmed north of Thief River Falls. In 1969 they moved to Argyle, MN, where they owned and operated the John Deere dealership until 1981. They wintered in Florida for a number of years, returning to Thief River Falls for the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Erwin died in 2002. Leona spent the balance of her summers in Minnesota, and her winters in Iowa.

Leona enjoyed working with the Northland Threshing Bee in Strathcona, MN, and quilting with the Piece Makers at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, IA. She had been active in the Thief River Falls American Legion Auxiliary and the Community Theater.

Leona is survived by four children: Norman (Melissa) Muzzy (Cedar Falls, IA), Karen Rhine (Phoenix, AZ), Steven (Shaun) Muzzy (Thief River Falls, MN), and Shari Benson (Florida). She is also survived by seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin, two brothers (Ernie Madison and Dale Madison), one sister (Mae Dufseth), and her parents.

Memorial services will be held at United Methodist Church of Thief River Falls on Sunday, June 6, at 2 pm and at First Presbyterian Church of Cedar Falls on Tuesday, June 8, at 10 am."

I said goodbye to her over the phone minutes before she went. I am also unavailable to attend her funeral.

I have to admit that, sometimes, I'm glad sites like this (and photographers like this) exist. They do an excellent job at making me look so very professional - both as a photographer and as web designer. And as proofreader.

I bet your eyes bleed by now. I don't even expect you to bother navigating to other areas of the site. Not even in a Peugeot factory you'll find this many 404s.

I can't bring myself to even call this a startup business. This is straight up a plain useless cheapskate trying to... do whatever. I can't even figure out what the fuck are the services provided by this "company". Bonus points to whoever finds out.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but anyway; the guys behind torchlight are releasing a new mmorpg called "battle of the immortals"
(see here: http://boi.perfectworld.com/)

It's free to play; it's currently in the beta stages. My first impression for the game is 'amazing'. The detail for the gear is massive, it doesn't only look cool, it moves, it even transforms the higher your level is. The environments and monsters are cartoonish, but they really do look good, and the mechanisms abilitys and things you can do are just great. For a free game it's really worth checking out!

I know soup miner just posted a journal about why people post when they're drunk, but i have to throw this out there:

My girl and i were spending the night drinking, and were getting tired of playing the card game: war, so tonight i decided to invent my own game for 2 players.
It's almost like a DnD + war mash-up
I call it: "Castles"

Each number card holds its value. All face cards are 10 (jack thru king)
Aces are 11

Player 1 shuffles the deck and deals 2 cards to player 2. Player 2 takes the average of those 2 cards [rounding up to nearest integer] and that number becomes attack strength. This gets written down on a score sheet.

Player 1 re-shuffles, and deals 2 more cards to player 2. Those are averaged and the number becomes defense.

Player 2 does the same to player 1, and after the attack and defense attributes are set per person, the 8 cards are re-inserted into the deck, and each person is dealt 26 cards, war style.

So each person has a castle with 100hp and player 1 and 2 alternate attacking and defending. [we did a coin-flip but who gives a shit who goes first, really] You play war style - meaning each person flips a card at the same time, but the attackers ATT and the defenders DEF are added to the card they flip.

If the attacker outweighs the defense, the difference of the 2 are subtracted from the total HP of the defender. If the defender outweighs, HALF the difference(rounded DOWN) is subtracted from the Attackers HP. if it's a tie, it goes to the defense, and nothing happens.

Anyway. The game is played until one person has 0 HP

[ if you're drinking, every time you lose HP, you drink! :) ]

if you run out of cards, the Attack and defense attributes need to be re calculated as in the beginning, but your castle health points stay the same!

We played 3 rounds, and after altering the original rules to the ones i just typed, it's a pretty fun game. After you're drinking you need a calculator to do simple maths, but at least it's not at monotonous as regular war..

What do you guys think about the rules and the game?
