There are times when I wonder if Japan is the luckiest country in the world. Take for an example the latest promotional partnership between Microsoft and Burger King (...yes, Burger King). Microsoft is celebrating the release of Windows 7 in Japan with a Burger King promotion for the "Windows 7 Whopper". Now, what the hell is the Windows 7 Whopper you ask?

Simple: The Windows 7 Whopper consist of seven stacked beef patties that measure over 5 inches in height, and the whole thing costs an appropriate ?777 (or $8.55). It's available for seven days only, completing the run of sevens.

JeffMOD does not understand why so many Americans seem to be against Socialized healthcare.

IMO, most of the protesters are just too ignorant to take a look at what "Socialized Healthcare" means, and instead are going "Obama's new policy has 'socialized' in it! he must be a Communist Nazi!"
Let me put it this way. I live in Canada, a Democratic country that has socialized healthcare. Say I go see my doctor, and she tells me I need a liver transplant. I go on the waiting list, they find someone compatible and willing to give me a snippet of their liver, I get the operation done. None of this costs me a single cent! It's all paid for by the government, and it doesn't matter how much money I can spare for a surgery, as long as I am a Canadian citizen getting it done in Canada.

Now, I don't care if you have enough insurance to cover it, I don't care that it will add a few bucks to your annual taxes. What if your insurance company goes bankrupt, or the policy doesn't cover what you need? Socialized healthcare makes sure you will get the surgery/treatment, regardless of whether or not you can afford it, or your age. All American citizens will get the healthcare they need, regardless of whether or not they can afford it. People are suffering because they can't afford surgeries without taking out a loan or going bankrupt, and no developed country should allow that to happen to their citizens.
It's a good policy, and "Socialized" does not mean America is going to turn into a communist state. Get over yourselves.

TL/DR: Socialized healthcare means free healthcare, Obama not a Commie.

So who remembers the first time they set up Hammer, and how daunting it was :) Did you pour over the instruction help file and cautiously follow every step? I know I did...

My rule of thumb. The more promotion and hype that goes into a game, the worse the actual product is.

Example:

Half-Life 2 and episodes: Very little advertising, more money spent on development and upgrades. Overall mature and respectable community of players and modders.

Halo series: Glorified console shooter that was on the PC once. Too much money and time spent on hyping the product and putting up advertising campaigns. Very basic shooter complete with "console spacky-hand retard assistance module" (see: auto aim) and "pussy faggot stop-that-it-hurts protection circuit" (see: Health regeneration) Community consists of 6 - 14 year old's who swear all the time but just quiet enough so that mommy can't hear them.

Games don't need all this marketing for the love of God! They are video games! You know what used to influence my PS1 purchases? Demos! What the fuck happened to demos!?

That is all.

So, today we went up to the cottage to close it up.
This involved the yearly dock migration- Unlike all the other docks in the bay-ish area our cottage is on, our dock is a floating dock, as we have no foundation. This means that every fall, we have to untie the dock from the chains holding it in place in the event the back falls, pry the back off the concrete that's there, and get on to row it to the side of the bay, where the owners of the neighbouring cottage let us tie it up in the shallows so it doesn't break apart when the water goes down.

Every spring we have to row it back up when the water comes up, provided the boyant barrels (think HL2) holding up the front are still there.

To get an idea of how this works, picture yourself on a raft. Now picture it three times the size, large enough to hold a small fishing boat with lots of room. Now picture it being a bit broken and decayed from all the years it's been there, only boyant on one side, and the water is cold. Plus you have to row the damn thing 10 feet or so, and get it rotated while you're doing that. That's pretty much our dock when the back isn't on the shore. It's a good dock, it's just getting...old. And it's heavy enough to be a burden when you're trying to move it.
Luckily, nobody got their feet wet this year. Not much more to say, pretty much routine stuff other than that, forgot my lunch, moved a picinic table inside through two narrow-ish doorways, ect.

TL/DR; JeffMOD moved a rotting dock with a paddle at his cottage, water was cold, picinic table inside.

Oh oh oh...

I'm in a state of dreariness( or melancholia or how do you say it in english). For the jerks who only know the word "emo", I'm not in that kind of state, I have nothing to do with "emo".
And nostalgia too. I look at photographs with me at the age of 13( that's when I joined TWHL, I'm now 16) and feel so bad that I can't turn back in that time... what a wonderful holiday I had, I was so childish and could do whatever I wanted. Life was fun. Really fun. The nature was not so polluted ( I mean in my area) like it is now. I almost cry.

Please, somebody make it possible to travel in time !
Oh fuck it, I hope I get over this quickly. It's my obsession of thinking about the time that passes too fast.
Grammar nazis, if you don't want to vomit don't read this. Oups, too late.

Well, I've been missing from TWHL for a day(not that somebody cares anyway). I didn't had internet. In fact, I couldn't start the pc. In fact, I didn't had lights too. In fact, the whole village didn't had electricity. In fact, 5-6 villages from around here didn't had electricity and I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but aprox. 50 km away there was still no electricity.
Reason : IT FUCKING SNOWS. Actually, it snowed, now it stopped. But there were also powerful winds and because of that, a tree in the near forest dropped over the high voltage lines, breaking a pole.

I learned at the light of 3 candles. How romantic is that huh? I felt like 1800'.

[EDIT] I also bought some headphones( 20hz-20,000 khz but the actual frequency starts from somewhere around 30 hz, I tested this with a tone in audacity) with a microfone. They arrived monday. The transport was free. I'm now more professional. That's what a friend told me at least =))
