Interesting points made by Andy, but I think there's a particular reason behind this, the level of admins doesn't match the amount of members, and TWHL is pretty much a free-for-all. This brings in some unsavoury characters at times.

I think maybe it's time, as CP was saying, to stop answering so many questions, we/I (I notice 7th does alot of GMQ's help) seem to be constantly pointing peopel in the direction of tutrials, pehaps 'ignoring' them would be a good move, they'll soon get bored, and either look for themselves, or go away, either way it's a winner.

It sure isn't fair to the real newbies, but all teh information is out there. And not everyone can be a great mapper, or even be a good mapper.

...must....map....must....map....

Honestly, I've hardly even opened hammer or looked at other people's maps lately. Which is pretty pathetic. :(

Hopefully I should have GTA:SA to look forward to later. Which is pretty awesome. :)

I didn't even know there was a compo on at RUST, but even if I had, I probably wouldn't've been too bothered. I'm not aiming to make it in a very crowded industry when I'm older, I'm perfectly happy to share my experience with newcomers who just want to make something for fun.

Maybe that's just me. I can't see that there's anything wrong with that.

True words from Andy...

Although I see mapping or generally design more as a hobby, it would never hurt to get to so something with it later on in my life. And just talking about it won't get me anywhere...
It's time to drop the forum browsing to a lower level and put some more time in real designing.

You see, at a certain point it's easy to rely on just your knowledge and experience. You'll assume that that's enough to get you somewhere, while you forget that it's actually the products you delivered that made you a name.
(Not to forget about attitude... you may want to have to work together with others in the future...)

At the other side... I want to give more time to serve God. Priority number one that is. Then there's school, there's the contacts I so value...
Perhaps I should start to enjoy mapping more, as I once did, so I can see it as an interest once again...

EDIT: You know, I enjoyed TWHL because I had a sort of 'elite' status. My knowledge, my 'answering sprees'...
I'll quit it. I'll get back to the real thing, creating maps, asking feedback, tweaking it and help out a few fellow peers. What value has the respect of those that produce crap, of those that show no maturity? I've seen only few here that I admire, and whose respect I value...

I have just embarked on an ambitious project--recreating the Santa Barbara County Courthouse using the Half-Life engine. I just came back from Santa Barbara for a weekend vacation, and I met the County architect and obtained the floor plan of the building from him.

I might have to leave out some architectural details, due to r_speeds limits. I hope it's an attainable goal.

The building is a beauty. It's on the same level as the new Getty Center in LA as far as its architectural significance goes.

We have some real idiots around here, one of them being whoever the hell decided that identical journal postings of the word 'dunno' is a fantastic, witty and funny idea. Your a sad person in that respect. Leave if you don't like this site, because no one is listening to you.
