I diagnosed a boy yesterday with brain tumor.

It was a hard news to break to the mother.

He's getting brain surgery today. It was the largest brain tumor that I have ever seen.

For a moment I thought it was another one of your medical trivias... TRAP!
Medical stuff bothers me... I would make a terrible doctor. At least your on the light side of the force. :)

Yeah most doctors seem to be pretty impersonal when delivering bad news, but i guess it's better that way so you can do your job. I could never do it...

And there's the difference between you and I.

I couldn't deliver bad news.

I could maybe do it, but it'd kill me inside.

That's the thing you have to keep in mind about doctors and bad news, it might seem like they care nothing about what they're telling you, but really its like that for their benefit, as much as yours.

I could tell them. Well at least I think I can but I haven't actually tried so.

One must lose a little of life to save another.

That's sad... I hope he makes it through...

I stayed awake last night thinking about the patient.

I hugged the mother and the grandmother afterward while they cried. It's truly depressing.

Life is so unfair.

I hope he pulls through. I remember my Dad once telling me about when he had to tell a new mother that her baby had died shortly after the birth... I doubt that I'd ever be able to do something like that, or this.

I've delivered bad news. I had to tell a man that his wife was dead, not a nice feeling.

How'd the surgery go?

He woke up and was able to move his arms again, but the surgeon was not able to remove all the tumor. This means that he'll have to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Both suck more than headcrabs.

Poor kid. At least he's alive... I hope he makes it through his treatments.
