Thanks guys. He's currently using a litter tray but we have limited space in the house so we plan to take him out in the garden in a few days to try and get him used to being an outdoor cat. He's fine inside and rarely scratches the furniture but with the house being so small it seems a little cruel to leave him on his own all day.

my neighbor rescues cats/kittens from the shelter, and finds them homes, so there are always plenty of cute kittys to play with and visit over there, and they're always dying for attention.. awwww
