I'm going to keep doing this every day, if I get as lucky as I did today.
Logged on to TF2 before heading off to school, and let it sit in one of the specified IDLE servers until i got home. Found out I had lost connection though, not sure when, but I picked up an Ubersaw, Cloak and Dagger, and 2 Backburners in the time. Though now I have 3 Backburners... >_>

I'm really tempted to do that same.

I've never cheated to get my TF2 weapons, and I really don't want to start. I just want Valve to fix this shit before I'm forced to.

i've wanted the cloak and dagger more than anything so i think its worth it. and they said an average player takes 2 weeks to get everything, doing this should have me done by this week. i mean, it is 8 hours on a normal school today (from the time i leave to the time i get back)

I think I played the average play time of a person's entire week in a few days, though. I doubt people play for more than 15 hours a week.

And I've only gotten a flare gun, a sandman, a FaN, and Jarate.

Idling is fun. I've got 79 hours of TF2 racked up now because of it.
Two thumbs up.

I'm not a TF2 player myself (though I wouldn't mind trying it out sometime). Can someone explain what the deal with this weapons stuff is? Cause all I've heard is people getting pissed off by it.

In team fortress 2, there are "unlockable" weapons, like achievements, the only problem is, you don't have to actually do anything to get them, you just leave the game and get them after a while.

What if you could change while you're in game the system time ?
Commented 14 years ago2009-05-26 18:00:06 UTC Comment #52505
Wouldn't do anything. It's based on a counter in the game. Every however many minutes, someone has a random chance of getting a random item.

Unfortunately, there's no way to circumvent the this system to increase your chances.

just as gimpy as achievment farming.

Why not actually play the game.
Commented 14 years ago2009-05-26 18:28:45 UTC Comment #52512
cause at least achievements were easier to get without special servers.
Waiting is just bull.
8 hours and i only got 2 items i can use.
I could've done every achievement known to man in that time >_>

valve: "wat. Why are so many people cheating the achievment system? It ruins the point... Oh, i guess they don't want to have to earn the weapons... I guess we'll just make it even playing field for everyone then."

nice going, achievment farmers.

I like the new system. Complain all you want, anything's better than achievement whores and class-crowding. Now you might get a few more snipers/spies in your game than usual, but you still have other players balancing out the classes because you don't need to play those classes to get the unlocks. Also, agree with Huntey - just play the game and you'll get your items.

The new system isn't perfect, of course, but that'll change as Valve improve the system. It's a whole lot better than the old system, anyway - now the unlocks actually are something special, rather than something that you farm achievements for a few days to get.

Correct Penguinboy is correct.

I personally love this huge slap to the face of the achievement farmers.

Thumbs up to Valve.

i was all for getting my stuff the fair way, never did achievement farm, but this is just annoying. if i wanted to achievement farm i'd have all my weapons... until now i only had pyro stuff...
