So I had my cylinder head all torqued down correctly on my car just now, as I had finally received some of the parts to put my car back together today. I then realized that I had forgotten to put the intake manifold gasket on, which is impossible to install with the head bolted down. So then I had to take all the brand new bolts off again, along with the new head gasket, and scrap them, as they are single-use parts. I have now re-ordered the parts, which will probably be here in two weeks time. Previously today, I also ruined another part that came with the order, and rushed to the auto part's store for a replacement. The order that originally cost me just under $60 has now cost me upwards of $120. Oh, and I also trashed the interior surface of my headlight while attempting to de-fog it. Unfortunately, I'm about out of money now, so I can't afford to be a complete retard anymore.

I do know what it's like to be frustrated with cars. I feel your pain man, but it'll all be worth it.

You trashed the interior of the headlight?
You're not supposed to clean them from the inside, that's why they don't rightfully just open up.
Your best bet is to get on line and do some OEM headlight shopping.
You can get them separate but I'd just buy a set...

Saw, it DOES rightfully open up. In fact, it pops right off, suspiciously easily. Wiping down the exterior of the headlight with carb/brake cleaner helps tremendously with the finish, and it's almost crystal clear after that. It's like it eats the top coat of sun-scarred plastic right off. But for some reason, I guess the interior has a different finish on it, and instead of clearing it up it had the exact opposite effect. Seriously, I'm not going to spend half the value of the car on a new set of OEM headlights.

NineTnine: It's more like having a half-constructed sandwich, and then Agent Smith & Company break down your door and seal your mouth up.

Never owned a car that did that. I had to buff em from the front.

Yeah.. I agree with saw on this one. you should not have had to clean them from the inside. It's sealed anyway.
Were they yellowed or just scratched? They sell anti-yellow stuff.

Sorry to hear that.

When my wife's old car repeatedly broke down, we sold it right away.

Sometimes it costs more to keep an old car than to just buy a new one.

I keep saying this, but they weren't sealed at all. One of them had what looked like RTV all around the edges, but it obviously wasn't a factory job - it was kind of sloppy, and there was a small hole at the base of the headlight that was plugged by the same stuff. The other headlight literally popped right off in my hands, and there actually was some dirt in there.

Satchmo: This IS my new car! :P
It would have helped if the last mechanic that worked on my head hadn't installed a lifter guide backwards. I wouldn't even be dealing with this.

Assholes.
And i'm sorry to have repeat myself.
Is there a nearby junkyard you can swipe a headlight from?

Yeah, but they'll seriously rip me off. Right now I'm trying to locate some engine parts from a junkyard, but I'm not having much luck. One wonky headlight is the least of my concerns right now.
