Hey look Kasperg is a judge! =O

If someone from TWHL wins, maybe we can convince him to come back! (Or that member's entry will fail by default)

No, we don't. But I don't like it when people ragequit a community like that.

I don't remember Kasperg leaving, anybody care to fill me in?
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-28 22:04:09 UTC Comment #56507
I wasn't here yet, but I beleive that he did'nt like comments people had made on his maps/other maps.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 00:07:57 UTC Comment #56485
he was jealous of me, knew my comments on his map were accurate and correct, but was too arrogant to do anything about it aside from bitch and moan. so he left.

He was pissy at me for deleting a shoutbox comment after telling everyone to just drop the subject, (because of the clusterfuck that it was). Said it was a bad sign of the Big Brother-like place TWHL was going to become, or some bullcrap along those lines. Like moderators actually doing their jobs suddenly became a bad thing.

Glad to see that happened... oh wait. We're too laid back for our own good and you all run wild. ;>

As for the subject at hand... what a way to promote decompiling.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 03:34:07 UTC Comment #56490
Do they seriously have to decompile or recreate every one of those maps? That's gotta be a bitch.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 06:00:31 UTC Comment #56498
I don't think they'll check if the maps were decompiled. Awesome.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 06:35:19 UTC Comment #56486
Well.. Which HL2DM maps are we re-submitting? I doubt valve will let us modify their work..
How do we get our hands on a released DM map?
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 06:48:51 UTC Comment #56499
They say it must be your own hl2dm map or, if you want to work on someone else's hl2dm map you must have his agreement.

What a bad idea hehe
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 11:43:54 UTC Comment #56488
Why encourage converting? Weird idea indeed, even though the judges seem fairly competent.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 14:36:54 UTC Comment #56483
Pointless, and a waste of time.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:05:07 UTC Comment #56491
So you can't enter unless you've already made and released a deathmatch map? Otherwise it could just be purposefully designed as a single player map. It's kind of stupid if you think about it.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:07:42 UTC Comment #56500
And the bonus prize in money is dependent on the number of the maps you make. 10 is minimum for the bonus, I guess... don't want to verify I'm lazy now :D:P(probably because right now I have like 2% CPU power available ...)
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:15:57 UTC Comment #56492
This is the first competition I've seen that actually encourages quantity over quality. I hate to detract from stuff like this, but it just seems like a bad idea to encourage people to make 10+ entries, unless I'm completely missing the point.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:30:25 UTC Comment #56489
.. are they seriously expecting over 30 entries from a single person? Talk about optimistic.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:33:05 UTC Comment #56493
They're probably hoping nobody enters over ten, that way they can keep all their money. :P
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 18:47:29 UTC Comment #56501
"30 entries" ... yeah I was sure I didn't check all the rules @_@ @_@ @_@

"that way they can keep all their money"

Hah, lol . $_$ What if they build a game from these maps and sell it on steam ? Smart people.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 19:03:22 UTC Comment #56496
I took it as they mean 30 entries all together. As in, "oh, there is more competition, the prize should be more valuable then!"

Duh. I can't believe you guys are that ignorant.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 19:43:30 UTC Comment #56487
Was about to say what saw said. It's pretty obvious.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-29 23:59:03 UTC Comment #56494
It was actually kind of confusing, because if you read the rules it says there is no limit to the number of entries you can make. That's usually not allowed.
Commented 14 years ago2009-06-30 00:50:14 UTC Comment #56497
then they would've said "at least 10" if you had to have 10 to win anything at all.
if lots of people participated, if even 10 people participated, they'd have 300 maps to looks over.
