Daubster DaubsterVault Dweller
I'm leaving for Dundee, Scotland tomorrow to begin my BSc Computer Game Technology studies in Abertay Dundee university. Sure, it's not DigiPen, but I'm pretty happy to have been accepted there, as it's one of the best unis for that subject in the UK (PC Gamer UK said so ;o )

For the occasion, I have acquired a used laptop. It's nothing too spectacular, but it was cheap (1400 Lt/~580$), in great standing and powerful enough to run every app I use daily.

Asus X55SR
2.2 GHz Intel 2 Core Duo
4 Gb DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD3470, 256Mb
250Gb HDD
15" screen (1280x800)
Numpad on keyboard, etc.

Pretty happy with that as well.

Well at least it isn't "Game Design". Design is such a dead-end field of study. Good luck!

Penguinboy: Course outline. It looks like a decent one, some of Abertay's students have won a BAFTA award, plus it's known & respected in the UK equipped with some high-end facilities. So hopefully, it won't be any of the bullshit courses most unis are offering. :]

Abertay is perfect for it. It's basically next door to Rockstar North, and only a few hours away from an EA design studio, as well as several other smaller companies including Codemasters and Rare.

Here's a promotion they had in PCG

Game developing is a lucrative career, but it's also very demanding.

I know some of my friends who work 120 hours or more a week. They have no life outside of work, but they make a lot of money.

Geez, WTF? Do they live at the office and never sleep?
