So I've been playing Dead Space 2 and was thoughly enjoying it. Some of the scenes were pretty intense but equally awesome while some other places are a bit weak, as with all games, until now.

I've hit a game-breaking bug that seems alot of people have encountered. During a sequence, I get attacked by this guy who's gone mad and is trying to stab my eyes out with a screwdriver. I have to button mash the use button (E) as with all grab sequences, scripted or not (ie, a monster grapples you and tries to tear you apart if you let them get too close). Anyway, for some reason, this sequence in particular has an error where it doesn't register keyboard input. I've mashed E and ENTER even changed the button to three others just in case I'd broken my keyboard, with no avail.

Apparently, this problem is common amoungst players but not total. It's been going on for a while and apparently EA don't care. There has been no acknowlegment of this error as such with other errors and they haven't even bothered to release a patch for over 2 weeks since release. I think EA are really beginning to take their position of power a little to lightly. Their general lack of support for games and the diminishing quality of their games is becoming a serious issue. Anyone agree?

Aren't there any workarounds?

EA is a publisher, not developer. Your stab has failed.

WRONG!

EA is considered a publisher, distributor AND developer.

Dead Space 2 however was in fact developed by Visceral Games so it might be worth keeping an eye on them in particular to see if they are aware of the bug.

Sorry I worded that wrong, EA only PUBLISHED dead space 2, Not made it.
I was aware that they're a in-house developer as well, I just worded it badly.

Ok, to be fair, yes, it was Visceral but the company is owned by EA so they do whatever EA tells them to, and EA is handling nearly all media related news. For example, they have acknowleged other bugs, such as the Elite suit not being available in news updates. But with this more serious bug, they haven't said a word.

Anyway, I'm not having a rant about Dead Space in particular, just at EA and how they run things these days. For me, the Need For Speed franchise has been steadily going downhill, alot of their recent games are getting kinda samey and they have bad media and product management and to be honest I'm sick of all the crappy sports games year after year.

I miss the awesome EA from pre-2000 :(

While I myself particularly agree that EA is very downhill from when it started, I just felt I'd point out that EA isn't responsible for the bug existing in the first place, acknowledging it is a different thing entirely though, and support wise you're right.

Heh, I was going to mention Need for Speed but you beat me to it.
Hot Pursuit is such a broken, consoletarded game I genuinely regret buying it - and I very, very rarely regret buying games.
I've ranted and raged on the official forums, as well as sending official support tickets about utterly game-destroying bugs, crashes and basic problems and they never reply with anything useful or even show that they've taken the information on board. For example, the recent patch absolutely wrecked compatability with a large number of logitech steering wheels resulting in them not differentiating between turning left and turning right. Hundreds upon hundreds of people have been complaining for the past week because they can't play the game (It's not worth playing with a keyboard) and there hasn't been a single official acknowledgement of the problem.

That bad? I was turned away by the burnout paradise gameplay at first but I figured overall It'd be a good game, but not really?

I take it this was the PC version since you said E key. Well no surprise then that it's buggy.

"Hot Pursuit is such a broken, consoletarded game I genuinely regret buying it - and I very, very rarely regret buying games. "

This.

Anyway, Hlife hotdog's problem reminds me of a problem I was having on Metro 2033 where a level would crash at the same spot if you crouched at any point during the level. At least that one was workaround...able. I hate game breaking bugs. Its frustrating because im willing to put up with a lot of shit to play a good game, (Bethesda anyone?) but when it just doesn't work. period. I get angry
