Striker StrikerI forgot to check the oil pressure
I want to make some beef steak in my microwave oven, but I am a bit confused.

I know I should never place a metal object in the microwave if I don't use the grill option.
But the instruction manual provided with the oven says that I have to cook the steak on the metal grill that comes with the oven in 2 parts:
1. 36% MW - 64% Grill for 6-7 minutes
2. Only grill 5-6 minutes

And also, at the beginning it states that the grill should never be used in microwave mode.

Isn't this dangerous ? :\

Use a frying pan.

Awesome advice Daubster. I will do as you say. When I have enough time...

I put the grill anyway. Nothing happened. It's probably designed for this. If the manual stated so then it's probably not wrong.

Smooth metal (e.g. a spoon) is pretty safe in the microwave but as soon as there is somewhere a spark can jump across (e.g. two spoons, or a fork), you're going to get a light show.

But yeah, I'm kinda disgusted that anyone would microwave a steak. That's just wrong in every way imaginable.

Uhmm.. but why? (I don't have any former experience with microwaves, I just bought one :P)

Perhaps you should have bought a bbq grill and do it the good ole' way.

There's nothing like the scent of slow-roasted meat.

I say it even if I'm not a big fan of meat.

Microwaves don't do justice to most meats. Its a very artificial kind of heat thats usually pretty un-even (cold centers). On a stove or oven the the heat is more consistent so it taste better. It also sucks for breads because they get soggy.

That's not to say microwaves are bad. Its fast and suitable for most things, just not meat or breads.

I find that fair, but mine is a microwave with grill. I think you didn't understand correctly, it used 36% microwave to heat it up and then it was cooked by the oven heaters.
It actually tastes good. It's delicious and moist! :))

I've also read that cooking in a microwave reduces the risk of eating carcinogenic elements that form when cooking the traditional way.
Now I've also read that vitamin B-12(a vitamin that is involved in neurological processes) is mostly lost.

I don't know... each methods come with pros and cons. I don't think microwaveing is bad. In my case the meat was cooked by the oven heaters, and only 36% microwave power for the first 4 minutes.

But that's why I love it. Ever had a soggy cheese melty?

Oh god...

Don't microwave steaks.

Just...don't.

Maybe it's because Penguinboy and I come from the land of bbq and grill. The idea of microwaving a steak is, frankly, disgusting. :P

Man, I don't exactly have the best food standards (just ask Pebs or Ant) and even I think this sounds yuck.

I'm confused. Is this a microwave with a detachable grill or something? I've never heard of anything like that.
Are you saying that the same compartment that is used for the microwave also has an electric grill attachment?

@Soup Miner: A lot of the newer models include an electric grill. So yeah, the steak I cooked was mostly naturally cooked in its own juice, without microwaves.
