Striker StrikerI forgot to check the oil pressure
I just upgraded to Firefox 4(after being lazy for more than a month since I said I will do it).
I know I have a lot of tabs opened all the time, and firefox 3.6 sometimes consumed 50% of my CPU for no reason. Oh, and it also consumed about 700 mb with all these tabs...

But, surprise! Firefox 4 seems to be worse: it went up to 1,2 gb of RAM with the same things opened. And it still consumes a lot of CPU power. Argh.

[EDIT] Also, what's with wrong with the text? It's not pleasant to read with such a "skinny" text:

I mean, in Firefox 3.6 the text was "normal". Has a new feature been added or something?

[EDIT2] Found the problem. It's because Windows ClearType. But it was already turned on, so I don't really see what's the actual problem.

[EDIT3] Oh wait, it doesn't affect at all the text in Firefox, or in Chrome. Although on the Firefox help page this is what it tells me to do.

That would mean that your firefox is fucked too since you downloaded the same program as me.

My text doesn't look like that either.

I turn off cleartype whenever I can. It always looks awful on every setup I've seen, except for bold text or large font sizes. Give me my perfect pixelated text any day.

If I turn off cleartype, everything looks awful :|.

Penguinboy's stuck in the Middle Ages of text smoothing.

Looks like Firefox 4 is using a different solution for subpixel rendering, it's too strong.

Are Skals and potatis using ClearType? If not, it would explain why it doesn't look like that.

Encountered the same problem after upgrading to ff4. Learned to live with it.
And it's either fixed already, or I just don't notice it anymore.

Let's not turn this into a browser fight.

Go with firefox if you want to be 'cool', use chrome if you want a functional web browser, use opera if you want a functional browser with a kickass UI, and use internet explorer if you want to be circumcised in the internet world. It couldn't be more simpler.

What about Safari? What about Lunascape?

"use chrome if you want a functional web browser" Not in my experience, no.

I've never tried Safari enough to warrant judging it, and I've never even heard of Lunascape. Will probably try them out later.

Opera is the best. Max zoom is 100% clear. Opera FTW.

It is in Firefox, too. And in Safari and Chrome and even in Internet Explorer.

I have yet to see any problems in Firefox after using it for the past year or two. Firefox is just IE that is safe(r) and loads quicker. I can't see what more you could need from a browser. Not to mention it works.

Oh and: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNofb-OlZyQ Just a thought.
