Checked woot today. They're selling a basic HP computer with a dual core AMD processor in it. I didn't buy but i checked the benchmarks.

Turns out a $350 basic starter machine has a better processor than my 'gaming rig' (dubbed "The Beast")

Methinks i need another processor / Mobo.

Intel prices dropped by a huge number. Here are some of the prices where i live:

i7-3960X 3.3GHz 15MB -> 710 Euro
i7-3930K 3.2GHz 12MB -> 500 Euro

While AMD is:

Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz 8MB -> 244 Euro
FX-8150 3.6GHz 8MB -> 220 Euro

Why don't you like intel?
Well i was considering waiting until the new Intel architecture hits stores so the I7's drop in price a bit.
I can definitely hold off for a few more months.

I only play a few games and my system handles them well.

Sims 3
World of Tanks
Anything Source based

I haven't been seriously gaming much lately.

There's nothing wrong with Intel. Never had any problems with my i7 970 so far anyway.

Now my AMD processor gave me no end of problems, combined with my ATi HD graphics card. Jesus that was a shitty combination.
