Happy April Fools!
Here's the official thingy/

Original Post:
Exciting news on the Hazard Course development front! We are pleased to announce Hazard Course: Infinity, and the position of writer being finally filled!

Sadly, there is also some...less good news, but on the bright side, I may be actually getting a payday from this.

Ugh, frankly I find that post rather sickening what with all the stupid legal threatening and so on. If I was involved in a team that pulled that shit I would be outta there faster than... something really fast.

Perhaps the fast thing you're looking for is "a mod team's jump to legal threats".

Not seeing how, for a start, the HEV suit model in question is so different from the original.
And then how the mod team can hold the rights to something for which the concept and design was essentially completely taken from another source.
And then how if it was a problem why Valve aren't the ones making the fuss.
Etc.
Etc.

Wait, are these commercial mods? I mean, I thought on ModDB people with hobbies cooperate on making mods. I've read this on Hazard Course front page:

"In fact, it is so similar that we are willing to bet that this cannot be a coincidence. We have contacted our lawyers, and they agree that this may very well constitute a severe breach of copyright. We have sent the Freeman Chronicles team a Cease and Desist warning, which has not been met with compliance. "

What the fuck?! People making mods for an old game series are nowadays contacting lawyers?

[EDIT] Nevermind. It probably has to do with today's date...

Yep, and in incredibly poor taste. I stand by my original comment.

It may have been a bit in poor taste (it was a team decision, and maybe things got away from us a bit after the original concept) but it was also the most elaborate April Fool's joke I've ever participated in, and for that alone I'd to it again. (Just not a second time. Time-travel only.)

I'd also like to point out that the people we were "Suing" were also in on it. So, you know, nobody really got hurt or anything.

Over half of the commenters knew it was a joke and were good sports about it. No harm was done. In fact, we promoted Freeman Chronicles! That how good jokes work. In the beginning everyone is raging, but at the end of the day everyone has a good laugh.
