AJ AJGlorious Overlord
Well folks, it's finally here, but why now of all days? The moderators here at TWHL have recently had an estimate of the site's value taken. We have discovered that the site is worth $74,035 US, and as such, we will be selling the site immediately so the three of us can become filthy, stinking rich! RICH I SAY.

TWHL will be shut down in approximately...five minutes ago. See ya!

I'll miss you, TWHL!

Shit, you had me worried there for a minute

TWHL has been purchased by Totally Wholesome, Healthy, and Lean, an upcoming cooking website. They plan on providing low fat, healthy recipes, that are kosher and safe for vegetarians.

Your membership in the new TWHL will be carried over, but you will have to pay a reasonable monthly membership fee of $24.95.

The new owners of TWHL have the site details already and are getting their site prepared right now, so get ready, it could change any minute!

Me? I'll be spending my 25 grand on a complete Atari 2600 game collection. Retro!

I'd better name the new site TWHELL

Actually, go ahead and sell it.

Just rent another webspace that is cheaper and copy everything over :D

Oh.. and then devote some of the money to the "Competition Prizes!" fund.

I see your price and have decided to raise you one.

I will buy the name for $74,036. Who shall I write the check to?

The new site will be "The Waffle House of London".
We will sell pancakes.

Also, who's atom >_>
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-24 22:12:16 UTC Comment #98620
74,035 US dollars you say? You would be better off staying home and coming up with a price in Australian currency, you might get a higher value for the website, since the trading value of the U.S. dollar is weakening almost on a daily basis against all other currencies. Right now, 100 U.S. dollars is the equivalent of about 70 Euros, not good. Hell, even the infamous Mexican Peso is starting to look good in some places.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-24 23:03:54 UTC Comment #98621
Yes, but the US dollar is worth just a little bit more Australian dollars, Tito. As for 1:03 PM GMT+10 on Friday the 25th of July, $74,035USD converts to $77,248.56AUD.

WHAT'S HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR BELOVED COUNTRY, YOU SAY SRRY?

Well, if you live in the USA, The Bush Administration has happened! Now, if those stimulus checks keep coming my way on a regular basis, then yea, I will be one happy bastard.

Hey Ant, all that financial math coming from you, you are one brainy guy. That's one heck of a come back you did with that international monetary exchange live quote. And you even threw in the Greenwich Mean Time you did it in, very nice indeed, I like it. But really, you did not have to go out of your way and do a research like that with that kind of accuracy. I don't think there's enough people here to really appreciate the technicalities of what you just typed.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-25 00:41:21 UTC Comment #98627
Are you an idiot? It takes ten seconds to convert currency in a Google search. Nobody is so stupid that they can't understand conversion rates.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-25 01:09:07 UTC Comment #98628
Ha!.....You'll be surprised.

Also, I know something about currency conversion, after all, it was mandatory knowing it when I received my collage's small business administration certification. But hey, I apologize if I indivertibly offended anybody, since that was not my intention in the first place.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-25 01:13:59 UTC Comment #98629
Premium account users will have the ability to post completed maps, as well as four new types of forum bbcode (bbcode can also be obtained separately - 5.65$ per code).

It really didn't take much effort. OS X has a converter widget that also includes live currency conversions. Since currencies fluctuate fairly often, stating the time and date is mandatory.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-25 03:56:51 UTC Comment #98631
AAAAAAAAAAAH MAAAAC DIEEEEE!!

Other then that, currency conversion is quite easy, just dont mess up the numbers.

How come this thread board does not have the editing features (BBCode) normally found in the forums?

It doesn't?

THEY CAN TAKE OUR SITE, BUT THEY CAN NEVER TAKE OUR IRC!
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-25 12:47:15 UTC Comment #98638
Like I said, I do have the BBCode feature on the regular forum boards, but for some reason, it's not showing up on this thread's text area. Oh well, it's no big deal.

Anyway, going back to the main topic, with all joking aside, if you were to really try to put a monetary value to TWHL, I don't see how you would do it, since what I understand about the value of websites, is a website's value is based on the amount of revenue it generates from the fees it charges from advertising placement on it's web pages. And I don't see any adds on TWHL. Unless of course, you are going by visitor traffic hits, but I don't know if that would be enough for coming up with a price tag of $74,035, but I might be wrong, because I obviously don't know how many hits TWHL gets a day anyway.

think about the unknowing free advertisement and support for valve's games and products. I think TWHL is worth its worth only through its people, like any website.

How much is a potatis_invalid? I'm collecting a set so I can get +3 to all Amazon Skills.

EDIT: Lol, MapRookie.com is woth $575 US Dollars, so in US dollars, that's like $380.60 :P

But, Rimrook, how can one US Dollar be worth less than one US dollar? It doesn't make any sense.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-26 08:41:39 UTC Comment #98648
I believe it works in the same way Google does, sorta. It checks how many times the link has been refered on other sites. By extrapolating that data, they can see how popular TWHL is, and thus the kind of money it could be generating. The monetary value comes from the worth of the site based on its popularity essentially. Granted, no one is using TWHL as a platform for money, but hey, if someone offered me $75 000 for TWHL, I'd sell out like a cheap prostitute!

Apparently, my portfolio and blog are worth 38K combined. That sort of undermines the reliability of that site, don't you think? ;)

Bytheway, snarkpit.net is worth 330K.
Commented 15 years ago2008-07-27 11:42:47 UTC Comment #98657
How does it calculate? My site is worth $74.. Theres nothing on it!
And as I said in my previous post:
"www.area.autodesk.com is only worth $69.. wtf.. How's that work!?"

So it can't be based on hitrate, or downloads.
