Don't the models disappear to keep your computer running nice?

Like I'll take an SMG to a mob of about 30 zombies, but after killing them all, have about 8 corpses there, because they disappeared.

in Guitar Heroism and Rocking Bands Post #258615
True, these instrument simulation games are great fun with friends.

I believe Daubster's point is, that trying to master these games is pointless, not that playing them is pointless.

I enjoy playing guitar hero, and rock band, but I would much rather pick up my guitar instead of trying to get 100% on a song. For me, it stops being fun if I try to do that.

Then again, perhaps my view is a bit biased, I love music, and above all, I love playing music, for real.

Expert is only for team players, preferably with friends, in my opinion.

Public expert matches often fail miserably.

Edit: BTW, Left 4 Dead might seem to run alright, but it will show its darkside if you try to run it on a system under its minimum memory spec.

Found that out because my brother tried to run it on a computer with 512 memory and Left 4 Dead brought it to its knees.

And is anyone else getting some lag and connection issues when loading up the second map on an online server? It lasts for about a minute then stops.

I had a good time playing a "normal" game with 3 friends, but to counteract the low difficulty level, I would kill myself, go into spec mode, and use spawn commands and director commands to try and kill the survivors. I was a fair human AI director though, so it was great fun.

I joined up with urb and huntey, and they were messing around with the console, so hunter and urb tell me to go check the toilet (in the level 2 safehouse)

Finding the door closed, (and knowing Urb and hunter) I was naturally suspicious.

So I cautiously opened the door, and a witch jumped up and started screaming....then ran right past me and owned urb, who was standing at the opposite side of the safe room.

ATDestroy is talking rubbish. Look inside all the bathrooms. It's the right thing to do, no matter what he or Urby might tell you.
You have to admire the irony though.

Huntey and Urb tell me to open door, I open door, Bad thing happens to Urb, and not me.

I was laughing for about 5 minutes.

L4D finally downloaded, and I have to say it was great fun! I'll definitely be getting the full game.

That would be Potatis, JeffMOD. tatis, not tatoes. :rly:

Anyway, the combat system is pretty simple, just click on an enemy and you'll attack with your weapon.

The damage you do is completely random, so sometimes you'll hit for one point, sometimes 20, depending on the damage of the weapon.

I suggest reading the combat log after defeating a few enemies, that's what i had to do before i had an inkling of how combat worked.

...What? Explain that.
Are you saying it needs more shadows?
The lighting is a little repetitive to me, It would get boring to me very quickly, that's why I suggested breakable lights, just to break up the monotony of the lighting.

That's just my opinion though. I know for a fact I am definitely picky about lighting, and its always the thing I spend the most time on in my maps.

in Post your screenshots! WIP thread Post #257855
Those areas look great! They make me think of a damp, dreary, basement maintenance area or something. Very Half-lifey.

One thing though, in the first picture, the texture on the inside of that fan tube contrasts too much with the smooth texture of the ceiling, it looks out of place to me, but that's just my opinion.

I also like your pictures Muzz, but i agree that the lighting needs to be broken up a little bit. Right now it looks like some corporate lab where the people are not allowed to have personalities. Maybe that's the kind of look your going for though. If it is, then perhaps have the lights destroyable? so that in battle, the lighting would change for a more dynamic experience. Let me know what you think.

Moral of the story is: never underestimate someone who doesn't know how to use a computer properly.
Amen.

The sys keylogger pro was able to get on my system because I was on the net without my firewall active and i didn't know it.

Apparently my mom had gone on the computer earlier to check her email, (on AOL, believe it or not) and didn't like the firewall messages popping up. So, firewall off.

Thats pretty much why i need antivirus, between my brother who goes to lord knows what sites, and other people who disable my protection, I wouldn't be able to keep a computer running.

Amazing how I never actually get a virus on my own. Its always some computer illiterate people.

These stories of total destruction of a person's computer at the hands of a virus make me shake my head.

I know how much it sucks to get attacked by very dangerous stuff.

I think the most dangerous thing I've encountered was "sys keylogger pro" Which managed to elude deletion on my computer for 3 days, and in the meantime, had spread over my LAN to 4 other computers.

So after i deleted the first trace on my main computer, I had to hunt down the rest off the other computers.

Then I went through and changed EVERY one of my known passwords.

Funny thing, I wasn't on any sites except TWHL during the window of opportunity that the spyware had to implant itself. Not quite sure how that happened :/

The only game that I actually liked for its scare factor was doom 3, after I got a random demon appearance mod.

Ok, so maybe not quite the "scare" factor as much as the surprise factor, but it made my nerves tingle and made me alert, and made me jump a few times.

Games or movies with too much ghosts, too much zombies, too much monsters, and cheesy atmosphere make me angry.

It has to be believable to be scary.

Edit: And striker, are you really that scared from this mod? Really? Cmon man.

Of course Blizzard is going to allow multiboxing, it's in their best financial interest. They know once people start confronting these multiboxers more frequently, the honest, single character player out there will have no choice but to also become a multiboxer, and therefore remain competitive on equal terms with the other multiboxing players. It will be like an arms race, the best player will not be decided by who has the best gaming skills, but by who has the most simultaneous accounts. And who will benefit the most out of this? Why good'ol Blizzard of course. CACH'ING - CACH'ING - CACH'ING.......
Most definitely.

spawn times, random loot, lockout timers, extremely long level up processes? All designed specifically to get you hooked and paying their subscription fee for as long as possible. This "multiboxing" is just the newest installment into their monetary campaign.

Whoever came up with the idea of WoW (and most MMO's in general) are all freakin financial geniuses.
