It's not necessarily about what the belief is - it's more to do with how that belief can be used to manipulate and control the masses.
I'll say. Look at terrorism - political leaders using religion as a tool to recruit warriors, even though the cause has very little to do with the religion. Pretty easy to spot. Not to say all religion is bad, but it is certainly influential.

Let these threads live, this is the Gen Disc. forum. Don't like the thread, don't read it - but by all means, don't whine about how it should be deleted (I'm looking at you). That's just annoying.

On topic, I think we're all in agreement. Scientology is a cult. Now, if it were instituted by the CIA or not, I really don't care.
Is the CIA the root of all evil? I doubt it.
Did they actually do the MKULTRA program? Yes.
Do some people want to change the way the internet works, in favour of big companies? Yes.

And all the newfags who whine about Jahzel's "validity" on these forums, stfu and gtfo. Not only has he been a member way longer than most of you (Rahzel, anyone?), but he's made better maps than most of you.

There's my 8 cents.

There's some strange stuff in the bible. I know, plucked out of context and without consideration it really doesn't prove anything (I hang in #jesus a lot), but it's still a funny couple of quotes.

(NIV)
Deuteronomy 7:1-2 -When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations . . . then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.

Contradictions:
2 Kings 2:11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven?the Son of Man.

John 5:31 If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.
John 8:14 Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid.

Who cares? The point is they're forcing us to buy games we already own. Doesn't matter how much MORE they bundle in the package, it still mean we're paying for shit we already have, and it's ridiculous.

This has been annoying the shit out of me for some time now, and I'm fairly certain other people are a bit ticked off too;
Are valve really going to release retail Portal + Ep2 + TF2 only in the orange box? I.e. bundled with HL2 and Ep1 - i.e. forcing us to buy games we already have. I'm hugely annoyed at this and it's really quite the asshole tactic by Valve. Forcing people to repay for the same thing is just ridiculous, and honestly, nothing I expected from Valve.

Sure, TF2+Portal+Ep2 might be released on steam - but I'm fairly certain that if it is, it'll be a later release than The box and more importantly, it's on steam. I just don't like buying virtual copies of games.

Unless they bring back The Black Box before release, I'm seriously gonna warez the games. There's no way in hell I am paying for games I own, no matter how low the price is. It's a matter of principle.

In any case, discuss.

in Where do I find Origianl Game Maps? Post #232672
The content is in the GCF (Game Cache Files) file.
1) Open GCFScape
2) Open desired game's .GCF (for instance steamappscounter-strike.gcf)
3) Find the maps folder
4) Find the map you want

It's not really that hard.

Counter-Life anyone? Basically half-life with CS weapons. You could buy new ones at HEV and Health chargers, and you got money for killing monsters It was great. Oh well, to properly implement CS weaponry in HL, you'd likely need to know some C++ and have a fair understanding of the HL SDK.

You can't take images with proper lighting without a decent camera (that means NOT a $100 digital camera), no matter how big a resolution it uses.. Simple as that. I'd love an SLR camera.

But overall, very nice photo.

no browser (not even IE6) has problems rendering paletted transparency with them
Aaa, nyaaah, close but no bisquit. IE6 has some problems with displaying normal and transparent PNGs correctly, believe it or not. Sometimes it messes up the colour of them quite badly. Gif is generally the safer (but way more unsexy) way to go.

[12:23:10] <@Ant> I just always think there's a huge age gap between me and ladies I like
[12:23:38] <@Hugh> 7 years IS a huge age gap, at least at your age
[12:23:52] <@Hugh> I wouldn't go out with a 27-year old, unless she was super-duper-DUPER
[12:24:07] <@Hugh> or just OK. I'm not picky

Normal, cheap-ass digital cameras pretty much can't take decent photos in dark settings. They always come out looking like shit. With control over exposure time and aperture you can suit the camera to your needs. Believe it or not, autofocus isn't always the best focus :P .

I'd love to have an SLR camera, but yes, they are quite costly.

ZL, what OS are you using in your pic and where did you get that bitchin' Diablo II icon?
Windows XP using Aqua Dock (freeware application). The icon's from DeviantArt (they have a hole category for dock icons). Aqua dock works great, but it gets a tad annoying at times.
