you couldve pressed shift+z, which would give you only the camera view. just press shift+z again.

you dont need to map in steam. just keep your WON settings, and move your finished bsp to steam. you dont even need steam for hlsp maps.

theres no way to make it just one, but it really shouldnt look wierd.
as for the player_weaponstrip, make sure the trigger_multiple has no name, and make it target your player_weaponstrip (keep it simple - no capital letters, spaces or weird symbols in your entity names)
i.e trigger multiple:
name:
target:strip
player_weaponstrip:
name:strip

no idea what that meant. try giving us a few screenies (imageshack would be a good place to put em). the NULL texture will make a face completely invisible, if it helps.

dude, just because people dont like something, doesnt mean its always because theyre crap at it. thats just a view taken by cs g33ks who cant think of any reason someone would think ill of counter strike because its all theyve thought about for so long. flame me if you want, your just proving my point.

A tough one to figure out, vague error that usually shows up when you start the game or during compile, or even when WC/Hammer starts up - you have gone over the memory limit somewhere for some reason. It can be too little RAM (128M is about minimum), a leaf saw into leaf error, too long pathnames, too many textures, too big a level, too big or too many model/sprites, too big a wav sound file - or it could be that old "too many wads" mistake, a huge "noob" brush around the map to prevent leaks, too many SKY faces on hidden brush faces in the level - or even something else. Example: In early versions of NS, the 3D area info location entities were a major cause.
If it happens during compile, do not use WC/Hammer to "run" the map, but use a front end or batch file to compile with. You could also get more RAM.

all see through? no idea, but since were on the topic of WADS, remember that having more than 8 WADS being used in hammer can cause wierd problems.

3 may be small, but its a good amount to start off with. trying to make a mod is alot harder than it sounds. dont try going for loads of maps. half life had about 70. remember how long it took to make?

click the brush your working on twice. you will see square boxes appear at the side middle bit of each face. this is called the shear tool and is very useful for making slopes and stairs. but be warned, it wont move the textures into line with the brush.

yeah, just ignore m0p. btw, I recommend IceChat

its prett noob friendly, but its not bad for experienced users. the only downside is that scripting is pretty hard, as its done in vb. but scripting is pretty unnecassery fr irc.

ah, acrobat. since adobe Rights Managment Documents use the extension .rmf they take over the Rich Map File. just right click it, choose "open with" and select your version of hammer. make sure the checkbox saying "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is ticked, then click ok. you might not have the old hammer icon back, but if you double click it you will see the hammer logo appear (the window asking what game you want to edit it in will apear behind the logo, so you have to click the little bit at the top or bottom to bring it up, then just choose your game)

make complex brushes (i.e cylinders) into func_walls. this should stop face splitting, which can lead to higher r_speeds. also, check out the tutorial on r speeds.
