ridiculous music in videos, ridiculous dialogueDon't know about that (no sound at work), but I read it's very... hillbilly.
day time mapsDon't have a problem with that though.

Valve announce Ep3 for this yearMy bet's on early next year, but we'll get info and a nice juicy trailer.
Like, the first Terminator for instance. And the sequel!
Moderators: Please close or delete (if possible) this thread.POW!
Am I the only one who would like to see a L4D map which takes place in the day?Nope. But check halfway down this page.
The TWHL hldm server is down.Irrelevant, was only around for a small amount of TWHL's entire life.
Competitions are heald rarely and when held, dude date is not strict and judgement takes a lifetime.True enough, being sorted out.
All of the good mappers have been either lazy or too busy with life to make some good maps, but whats the point of making a good dm map when no one will play them. Sart the server back up, set up a payment plan, make it happen!See reply #1.
THE RATING SYSTEM NEEDS 10 STARS NOT 5 STARS MAKE IT HAPPEN ! ! ! ! ! !What.
This is the only reason I almost never rate maps.
The moderators need to be active, rewarding, encouraging, and mappers themselves. Get mappin! No offence, I just don't think you should judge a competition without experience, in fact I know you shouldn't!I map, but that's a damn bad argument regardless. Reviewers make a living off doing the very same thing, but we do it for you and don't get paid. You're still bitter over that compo but you're the only one who cares, it must be said. Give reviewers credit where credit's due.
I guess I'm lucky, I never get so incredibly bored that I have to resort to playing repetitive casual games.Yay, arrogance. Just because they're smaller games it doesn't mean they aren't just as rewarding. It's not like playing a bigger game is any more productive than playing one of these.
Any experienced sniper will tell you how irritating it is when your targets keep moving around. The question is how to stop these cheaters from wind-sprinting around like they own the place. And the answer is to pin them to a wall. How? With arrows!
And even if you don't kill them, they'll carry around a certain arrow-shaped something as a living testament to your awesome archery skills and their frankly unawesome dodging skills. To me it just sounds like the killing shot will pin them to the wall, like Half-Life 2's crossbow.
But as a trade-off you need to be much more particular about the lighting. Because modding communities such as TWHL are quite critical when it comes to lighting.I was writing an advanced lighting tutorial to rectify this. Laziness kind of took over. I have a whole bunch of the lighting/colour theory done, so I should probably release that in the meantime.
Strider started to delete my shoutbox comments and that kind of kiddy retarded behaviour was something I wasn't going to have. Little jelous kids taking over the site was probably the start of its downfall.I have to say, I simply love how you come back to imply I'm like a little kid, but also proceed to call me retarded. Bravo, excellent work.
About the media for The Citizen Part 2, wait to play the mod until you have anything to say about its quality. And once you've played it, wait and make your own better HL2 mod to have any authority to criticize.Reminds me of the time you said that simply because you think it's better than most of the maps in the mapvault, it deserved a higher rating. The point wasn't to compare your work with others, it was to critique your work. A point you still seem to fail to realise this far on. I happen to share the opinion that the media is unimpressive, and you can't take away my opinion. And about that "You do better!" bullshit, just.. haha, Urby nailed it.
or is someone snitching for you?For him and Nickelplate it seems. Fun times.
Lesse here... Realistic physics? Check. Realistic lighting and water? Check. Characters and textures that look fairly like they're in real life? Check. No no no, let me explain. All those things were pretty technically impressive years ago, yes, but Valve's purpose with Half-Life 2 wasn't to look cutting-edge. They actually considered dropping bump-mapping during it's development. Valve use the Source engine's visuals only to compliment their storytelling and gameplay. It's a stylistically good looking engine, not a realistically good looking one.
I try to check up on #twhl3 every once in a while but I'm always banned. That's a heck of a grudge, guys. You weren't wanted and we've since just given up. We simply don't care enough to bother with you, move on. Srry had literally just reminded me of you in this thread.
I'll tell you why #twhl3 is all Aussies: It's because you all banded together against everyone else. Pretty much, Strideh, Penguinboy and Ant along with their assman Trapt got pissed off at me so bad that they ragequit their own channel just to form a channel that I could not go in then got pissed at all the people who wanted to be in my channel, thus alienating them.Wrong. We'd had it with you and only you. We never went against anyone else. We wanted a new room for the new TWHL and it was a pretty fitting reason to be done with you, too. People were free at the time to go wherever they wanted.
I liked the site AND the channel, but when they came under Aussie-posse authority, no one else had a chance because the mods were more like a clique than internet civil servants.Had no chance to do what? Join our new site? Our new channel? What did we come down on (besides you)? We've actually learned to be LESS LENIENT since the unveiling of TWHL3 because of an influx of abusive trolls from not actually enforcing our updated rules.
Please let me back in #twhl3 I will be good.See my first reply.
Also, I would say this site is less active than before. Not so much in users, but more in activity itself. I told Strideh and Ant thousand times before, we need to focus on Source more - but they never come further than promises. And yes, I'm aware you guys have busy lives - but lots of people, including myself, have voluterend (spelling!?) to help anyways.Yes, well we're trying again and hoping to do it better. For a first site I think Pb and Ant did pretty darn well, even if it was incomplete during it's release.
Yeah, I don't really map any more, I just come here for the community and to goof off. It's never been a really busy site, although before the TWHL3 revision it got pretty damn crowded at times. There were a lot more interesting members back then in my opinion. I also think there may be too many new members that came here at once. Used to be there were a few new members at a time, but to even it out there were a LOT of people that knew their shit about mapping... not so much any more. I don't see the same kind of awesome creativity any more either.Pretty much why we need much more Source support, and believe me it's coming. New members are less reluctant to pick up GoldSource when there's something newer and more opportunistic in it's place. Most people who still map for Half-Life are fans and modders from way back. Things age.
Oh, and #twhl3 is pathetic. Nothing ever happens there. The decision to abandon #twhl was one of the worst moves ever for this site as far as I'm concerned. It's dead every time I log on, and Nickelplate was like the only person who made #twhl interesting in the first place. Now he's on #failreactor, so I just go there like twice a month.Hence, "more people should check up on it every once in a while"? And please don't mention Nickeplate, the guy's a dick.
