Go for the castle, renders are always a hughe pleasure to do :) .

Sure, maby a new modeling competition for cars? I know a few tutorials to get people started on that so that might work. Otherwise it would be a fun project as i always enjoy modeling cars a lot. Pretty sure you will to.

Its an 8-sided cylinder rabid, i just turned it 22,5 degree so the flat side would be on the bottom. Looks more like a 6 sided one, i agree on that. :)

Well, i was thinking about a red, a black, and a white one. With the last one being in a BM theme.

The wheels are quite standard for games like Half-Life, the texture is going to need to do the trick.

Red for sure :)

Then again:

image / adjust / heu saturation

colorize

move the slider

and there is your newly coloured car in 3 seconds :) .

The last 2 shots are rendered with yafray with a Smoothing angle of 50 and 6 AA passes with 2 as a minimum. No fancy lightning tricks or so.

i'l texture it later this evening or this weekend.

in Magazine Article on Day 14 Post #177212
Sentences are differently build up in German so excuse the crappy translation.

day 14 is a single-player map of different Art, thenm you change the story of the original game. Do you remember the (stelle ziemlich) from the beginning of Half-Life 2, at the point were gorden first meets Alyx and gets saved?

Now assume he didnt get saved by Alyx. Gordon becomes transported (statdessen) in a (outpost here i think) from the Combine, where he is medicaly researched in 13 days. he escapes at day 14. The cell door is open and dead combines are spread around everywhere, a suspecious looking man is disappearing beyond the corner. Then it creeps up to you, is the newly gained freedom from short duration? Is it all a test from Aliens, whom sees a inteligence resource in Gordon? the tension builds up, and Day 14 reminds a lot of games like Myst: The arcitecture is surreal, and gordon needs to solve small riddels to get his gravity gun.

Alright, this should be roughly it, though German nor English is my native language so please bear with me.

Not WWIII. We aint that stupid, neither are they in the middle east.

The problem with the middle east is that America armed most of those country's. Irak, Iran, Isreal, Egypt(english Spitfires). As some of you might know that Isreal has been the cause of many wars in the middle east, wich was actualy a big screw up from britain with the Balfour declaration.

But, all of its surrounding country's have a hughe grudge against it, and this, is causing quite a lot of problems for America to act in the middle east as a negotiator. So, threathing with a invasion there wont impress those country's. Because they see the western world as a Ally of Isreal.

WWIII is very unlikely, just imagine the hugh crisis that would errup in the middle east of they werent able to sell there oil to America, Europe, or Asia.

Alright!

Just keep going, car modeling is by some considered the hardest part of modeling, mainly because so many different techniques come together and need to be creatively used by the designer :) .

Mind you though, keep the poly's low for HL. I wouldnt say more then 1000 a car + 500 for a reflective map.

are you going to draw a skin for this one yourself?

In theory we should be able to maintain a life standard after America has fallen, since it will immediatly stimulate the trade with the middle eastern and far eastern country's, also Africa will make a good chance. Probably bring some peace too if the trade relations are changing since everyone will turn away from America and releasing tension on the world politics.

Lithunwrap doesnt waste space, you need to do everything manualy, in every UVmap program actualy. There is no such thing as automatic UVmapping.

Good to see your getting along with it Unbreakable!

But remember, you cant optimize the model anymore and retaining your UV coordinates at the same time.
