A section concerning Half-Life news'd be great. An area where people can post about mod media updates, interviews, or anything new related to HL1 or HL2. People can then comment on them, etc.

Dunno if other people would like this, but I think it'd be great.

With the development of a PM system going on, I'd like to mention that I quite like how the SnarkPit sends you a PM when you get a comment on one of your maps. It's handy, you know?

Whilst we are on the subject of making things SnarkPitish, the ability to have one major screenshot (like we have now) and perhaps 3-4

Also, we should make some little updates for Source. When a map is being uploaded, and HL2 or CS:S is chosen in the game box, you should then be able to select VMF, as opposed to RMF as it is now.

Worth noting that if you have the compile tools, you can compile and then see what it looks like in BSP Viewer if you wish. It could be helpful.

Yar, just make stuff at work, and email the RMF back home and stuff. Should work a treat.

Yes, you can change that. It is explained in the rules: 'You can change the shape of the path. This means that instead of square corners, you can round them and so on. A good example of this shown below. Both lead to the same place, hence they do not change the layout, but make the map more interesting and detailed.'

As explained in the rules: 'You can add more accessible areas, just as long as they stay inside the original floor plan (you can't extend it, but you can build upon it).' Go to the rules and find it, and take a look at the pictures to help understand it.

Ok, I'm gonna clarify something here. The 'corridor' areas can be widened, but NOT MUCH. Just so they can line up with the other walls.

This is because the original layout was more 'indoorish', but with the new widenings, it's much more outdoor friendly.

Take a look at the image below - the red areas are what can be widened and how far the can be widened to. These are the only accessible areas which you can add to the layout.

This is getting shitloads more publicity than the Bali Bombing ever did (I think it was a couple years ago), and the Bali Bombing killed 202 people or something, 188 of those were Australians.

What does this prove? The media only gives a shit about Europe and USA.

Habboi, no making it bigger. That'd be unfair. :)

The layout is fairly is small, but it's not REALLY small. It's probably too big for 1 on 1, with 3 players it's nice, but I can also see it working with 10-12 players and possibly more. :)

Just try and maximise the space available to you in large areas (don't fill it with huge amounts of props, etc.)

The 'field' is just a big lump of displacement, and has been clipped, meaning its just the same as it would be if I had a wall there. It just helped give the map a bit more of an 'open' feel, whilst keeping the same layout. Do you understand?

Example map will be released today. I'm not sure whether I should release it in its current state, or to fix some very minor bugs and add a bit of detail. To be honest, the map isn't really detailed, but it isn't ugly or whatever. Remember, I made it in a day! ;)

Ok, so I've whored out the most generic theme possible. Now, I'm begging people to not do anything remotely similar to mine. :)

Also, we now know that the layout works well, which was evident during the playtest with Rabid and Doodle last night.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking there, Kasperg. You can add anything that you like, just as long as the player cannot access it. Inaccessible areas are a great way to add detail, whilst still not changing the layout. So yes, you can create areas which cannot be accessed, and you can add 3d skyboxes and stuff. Just don't add areas which can be accessed, and it should be fine.
