Hey guys, I got a situation!

If I'm an admin, paying for a tfc server, and load a certain original (rare) map, sometimes it'll say missing wad file. And boots me out.. Well, then I got to wait for it to change maps on its own, which is an hour.

So what I want to know, is how to change the map if I can't get onto the server!? :

guys, I'm having problems with my internet, so I'm sorry if everyonce and a while, it cancels on you..
I was just playing tfc, and watching tv, when the cable went out, then came back on, and off, then on, etc.
Don't know whats causing the instability other than the outdoor powerline is making buzzing noises.. never did it before..
It will be fixed soon, hopefully. All seems ok for now. :

Edit:
Eastlink contacted.. my connections fixed. I guess they had 8blocks down or something like that.. technical difficulties.. all is better now though.

nah, its not the bounce, its the leafthread. I did the final compile yestaurday, but the leafthread stayed at 99% for 4 hrs, so I decided to close it. I'll be trying to compile it tonight.. but in the meantime:

Not sure how to optimize my computers performance actually Pepper.. lol, I never really cared about performance, as long as it works.. lol.
A couple days ago, it would have taken me an estimated 48hours to compile this map, then I talked to MetalPig, and thanks to him, he gave me some good tips, and cut the time down to just over 11 hours..
So a big thanks goes to MetalPig! :D
Ya though, I use my batch compiler, and all the apps are on, including 'light bounce' to be run 3x. :
I'm just hoping the map doesn't lag. because alot of the areas are in a big opened area. Unlike my horror map, where everything is more enclosed. My horror map will be released very soon as well, it's just a matter of changing the monster_furnitures into cyclers.

takes 11.3 hrs to compile..
and beta testing is done.. theres a couple things wrong with it.. (very easy fixes)
Ones fixed, I'll compile it for the last time through tonight, and release once done. :)
Patients is a virtue. :D

Yep, Cycler works great.

Last night I compiled a map for beta testing. Compiling time was 11 1/2 hrs.

Theres 4 things that need to be fixed, and then I do a final compile tonight.

I almost had my Horror map finished for the server, but then found out that models don't show up in the server, so that map idea has kindoff ended.. sorry.

Other news though, I have started a new map, this one will have no custom models.
Heres two screenshots. They kinda suck, but its just a start. And only one area.

BTW, I'd like to make this map have teams, but don't know how. I seen a certain server where they had like 4 teams. :

for the RenderMode, I'd consider using 'Addictive' with a low number like 20-50 instead of 'Texture'

hmm, a normal brush should have worked. Did the normal brush appear black as well? or was it lit? Recheck the angles for the l_e

well.. It's all good to go.. so I ran it on a lan.. and THE MONSTER_GENERICS WON'T SHOW UP!!!

so now the map kinda sucks without them..

I had many light fixtures, and dead body's and stuff.. I need those models in there.. is there a way around it?

I'll upload it so you guys know what I mean.

wait I got it fixed now.. an overlooked option:
Life (Seconds: 0-Infinite): was set to 1. So I changed it to 0.

Heres an idea I thought of in IRC.

We should have a backup directory.

Maybe such files as:
hl.dll
client.dll
hl.exe
other dlls.
sentences.txt..
..etc.

It was mentioned that you might not want to host them due to copyrights. Well, what do you think

bump** Well, I recreated the env_beams and they're still not working.
It might be because of my hl dlls.

EDIT:

Ok, I fixed the beam.. almost.

The beam is now being lit to create the floresent effect, however, now what it does is flick on, then off, then on, and off.. and so on.
I'm sure others must have had this problem.. I got new dlls sent to me and everything.. what the hell going on!?

well, I had alot of unused keyvalue errors.. but after I fixed'em all it did'nt help..

going to try to recreate them. be back in a bit..

BTW Muzzleflash.. this map is being made for your server.. its done. Just need to get the beams working, and compile it. :D

hey guys, been awhile since I last posted here.

Heres my problem:
I usually map for spirit, and now I am converting the map to HL:DM.
but when I change fgds, and run it with the original HL DLLs all the env_beams don't appear for some reason.

Well, I made a decision.

I decided to change this mod into a HL:DM map for MuzzleFlashes Server!

Edited lighting has made it brighter, and its unique layout should be fun.

It will be released in 2 Weeks, or earlier!

Ya Ten days ago I Had trouble compiling my map, so had Jaardsi to compile it for me, but got some weird bugs.. so, then I was late.. but Orpheus needed people to host, and said I still had time...
So, I decided to up my memory/swap and compiled, which somehow caused my internet to stop working. Map got compiled though.. lol.

Today, I came home from work, and lo and behold, my nets working again.. wth!? : :D

Robot ran into some compiling troubles.. I had to have Jaardsi to compile it, but when I got the map back.. there where problems with the env_beams.
1. The beams where much skinnier.
2. The beams where blinking on and off.
So I tried fixing it with '-entsonly' but that caused a bunch of different errors.. I fail.
