Switched to a generic wallpaper for the sake of showing something different.
Will probably switch out again before the week is done.

32bit and Radeon X1950 with the atioglxx.dll fix applied from TWHL.

It's worth noting that without the atioglxx.dll fix, 3D views work fine apart from (obviously) not being able to select.

Edit: After having checked the error page again, I see that it's an XP-specific fix so it shouldn't be a surprise that problems arise when trying to use it under something else.

Hammer crashes if I try any of the three 3D view modes in Windows 7.
Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm talking about the audio_track entity or whatever it's called. I don't think there's a way to change the volume, though.

If it's possible to change the client mp3 volume with Hammer, you could use an mp3 instead of a wav. I'm not sure if Vanilla HL does it, though.

I won't have anything else Microsoft in my computer, thanks. I have enough with Windows.
Hey, at least we're not in the same boat as Mac users. All they have is Apple-licensed software.

Anyway, it's free. It's probably crap, or maybe it's awesome, but at least you get to choose to use it or use something else.

Maybe for the next TWHL version it can change so there's a volunteer group dedicated to judge competition entries.

Totally off-topic, but it's worth mentioning that Zombieloffe or Trapt used that specific smiley as an example of how there's too many ridiculous smileys on the forums.
I think this is the first time it's actually been used.

Well I'm assuming that these doors are the only ones open, so what's wrong with allowing the player to go up that far? It's not like there's anywhere else to go anyway.

How about a maintenance ladder on the side that you have to jump off of and land in the doorway?
It's been done a hundred times before, but at least it makes sense.

Edit: Or just have the elevator cable act as a ladder and run with the same concept.

Bassnectars new album, Cozza Frenzy, just came out today.

Listening to it now. The title track is fucking awesome. The whole album seems to follow the same "flow" as Underground Communication with bass-heavy, dubstep songs first followed by smoother, melodious songs in the latter half.

Gotta love those wobbling basslines.

I came across Akira in 720p, so I got it and watched again for the sake of nostalgia. Last saw it when I was 13.

It's incredible how the fluid animation is still putting everything else to shame 21 years later. It was also nice to be able to make sense of the plot.

WAWAWAOVERRATEDWAWAWA
Akira is a god damn classic.
9/10

Also got around to watching Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels on Friday.
Another very popular movie that most people have probably seen, but pretty still pretty great.
It's hilarious and intelligent, though I liked Snatch better. Damn that ending, though.
8/10

Edit: Their "rifle" was full of win.

You could try building a grate out of brushwork instead of using the texture. I wouldn't ever recommend it for anything but a small aim map like this, though.

in glowing func_water Post #273646
I believe water is rendered fullbright regardless of other lighting conditions. I know the only way I've ever been able to darken water is to make it more and more transparent, at least with func_water.

If you can deal with no waves or distortion, you could just switch the func_water to a func_illusionary filled with "volumetric light".

Edit: Or you could just darken the actual water texture. That would probably be the best solution.

in disappearing brush entities Post #273543
Also brush-entities doesn't cast shadows if I remember correctly, I think ZHLT supposedly included something like zhlt_customshadow but I, personally, never got it to work satisfactory.
Entities should never be set to cast shadows in the first place, anyway. Not only to they cast improper shadows, but they screw with the entire light setup of the rest of the map.

Also, Tet, it would be better if he did func_wall those lights because texlights that run into another world brush like that have a tendancy to cause obvious face splitting. No need to do it for optimization, but he's right in saying that it will result in bad lighting.
