Idiocracy

Man this film is not good in any way except one thing: it's a good reference when talking about where the human race is heading to. Sure, it presents the exaggerated part of things, but when you stand and think about our present situation, when you think about how many idiots exist this day( and not everyone is to blame, but mainly parents who neglect the importance of education), that's when I start to worry.
I'm worried that learning is a process that begins to be more and more ignored, and most of the time it's appreciated just for the sake of making money using it. It's not supposed to be like this. Think of the past scientists who helped the human knowledge out of pleasure.
One just has to go on "yahoo answers", a virtual world where common sense is a thing of the past(well not entirely, but it's just an example where you can find lots of illiterate people). It just shows how lazy our brains have become.

And now think about quantum computers: when they will appear( and this is not too far away in the future), AI will practically replace any need of human thinking. Computers will resolve problems and scientists will not be needed anymore. Perhaps artists, but where will artist be heading to without culture?

What goes up must come down eh? Have a look at the history. IF we continue like this, the "end of the world" is really a plausible idea, generated by the human race itself, not by some natural disaster.

TL;DR (a bit of irony here):
I now truly understand the importance of education and I'm sad that so many people laugh in front of it.

Archie and Pepper have a really busy schedule. Unfortunately for me, if I'm going to go to the college I want, I have to move in that city. It's a 100 km distance from my place, and the train makes it in almost 3 hours. I really hate our rail networks. Trains are fucking slow(like stopping in every station wasn't enough).

Also, when I go by train somewhere and it's morning, I'm falling asleep pretty soon, I'm a total wreck in some mornings.

School morning:

1. While(time_passed<=15min){
wake_up();
turn_alarm_off();
pause(2min);}
2. Stretch. Yawn like a crocodile.
3. Get up. This needs determination.
4. Go fix and eat breakfast. Usually some scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, bread, butter, tomatoes, cucumbers. After, drink a cup of 70 %milk/ 30% coffee.
5. Go to the bathroom.
6. Dress up.
7. Put on the shoes and the bag.
8. Take off to school.

If it's not a school day then...
1. Wake up. Maybe.
I never turn on my pc in a school day morning btw. I don't have time :.

Potatis, what about a school day? Or it isn't the case for you? :P

Are those shadows coming from props? If yes, that might be the problem. You should add the "-staticproppolys" and "-staticproplighting" parameters to vrad.exe. It'll make the compiling time longer, but vrad.exe will now calculate the shadows from the actual polygons instead of the collision mesh and the props will be properly lit.

The Machinist

I've seen quite a lot of movies until now, and some horror(or psychological) might have scared me. This one though left me with a rather bizarre fear of my own mind. I'm thinking whether if too much awareness of myself and my actions can actually damage my sanity, because I have a cruel conscience sometimes too. This one actually makes me pursue the ability to have lucid dreaming, and ask some questions to my subconscious.

Blood Diamond
I enjoyed the movie, and I liked Leonardo's South African accent(constantly adding "uh" to any lines). Basically, the diamond is either a way of making lots of money and gaining power, a path of salvation and a... path of salvation. Though the first path of salvation is a selfish one. The second one is the true, the needed one and so this films transmits the message that the good wins over the evil. That's how I see it at least.

Children of Men
The plot is quite probable, but not around all the Earth. In the western countries maybe. This film is such a slap to our mind which takes everything for granted these days and we consider ourselves immune, at least until a disease strikes, at which point we beg for healthiness. Reminds of radiation, all the shit we're used to eat but our organism hasn't evolved to efficiently accept it, unnatural ways of living etc.

Try copying the entire map (manually, not with the select area tool) into a new map, and saving it as the old one. Might work.

Yes it is. Since TWHL is practically a family(we're kinda used to talking together around here), adding a bit of fun won't hurt anyone. I bet a few "likes" or even "dislikes" would bring a a little smile on someone's face.
It's just about those little pleasures that make life great. They are ignored by most of us.

The real problem is not clogging up the interface. I like how TWHL is still clean. But an intelligent TWHL4 design can permit a few funny additions.

I come with another problem that I can't seem to resolve, but this time hopefully it's not about errors(not that I resolved the problem from the last thread with vrad.exe ...).

I have a func_tracktrain which is set to travel along a circular path, made from path_tracks. The issue I'm confronting with is that, instead of having a nice, smooth direction of traveling, the train travels like it has a spasm at every path_track. It suddenly tries to change its orientation in the opposite direction for a fraction of a second before adjusting to the correct one, when it should adjust softly.
Here's what I'm trying to say:
User posted image
Here's how I set the func_tracktrain.

Flags
  -No user control (I'm using a lever attached to the train to startstop)
-HL1 train( I found that without this option, the moving of the train is continuously blocked just by the player standing in it)
The Change Velocity and Change Angles properties are both set to Linear Blend.

I've tried everything I know, even making the path smoother by doubling the path_tracks, but it only makes it worse.

As an alternative, I copied the properties of the train(well, not really a train, more of a cage really), pasted them to a "plate" under the train, and made the actual train a func_rotating. Now the func_rotating is parented to the train which also has the Fixed Orientation checked.
But this is a hard issue of trying to figure out what speed should the func_rotating have so the "train" constantly faces it's direction(and the result is the expected: super smooth moving) and when the rotation should start, so it's in sync with the train plate.
Add to that that it's meant to be done dynamically( the train is supposed to be startedstopped in-game by a lever). Add another problem: func_rotating entities get blocked by players standing on them...

I found the link, it was a post on my blog: Some test pictures with Nokia 6500 slide. They don't have any special composition(didn't know much about photography at the time, and I surely wasn't inspired to learn with such a 'casual' equipment), but they do showcase what they can be done even with a shitty camera, that has autofocus(it was a pain in the ass to get the focus right, no manual :D).
Also, thank you for you appreciations. I'm about to hit 20gb in my photo archive(but it includes some videos here and there). Most of my photos turn up ugly though. So, I'm pretty 'selective', if you want :P.

I don't understand. You've just shown us the "pro photographer-cheap camera" situation, and you are afraid of me participating? I'm just doing this for fun, I'm not very advanced. Actually I still consider myself a beginner, not even mid-level or something. Even now I only follow simple rules like the rule of thirds, or intentional inclination of the camera.

I think you are more than capable of making some good looking photographs. I don't have the link right now, but I would want to show you some photos I took with the camera that luckily had a focusing lens, on a phone I had in the past, the Nokia 6500 slide.

Nothing helps it work. I deleted Source SDK :x. I had enough.

Reinstalling now.
[EDIT] Wow. That worked. I"m posting here the full compile log just in case this was a one-time luck compile.
Curiously, I have no errors. I even checked on the Interlopers error page.

[EDIT2] Nevermind the log. I was right, that was a lucky compile. The difference is that now it "properly" crashes. Windows displays the error box message and then hl2 launches displaying a fullbright map.
Absolutely wonderful.

[EDIT3] Made a 'simple' map: A torus within a box. Vrad.exe crashed.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT :furious:
