the M-14 is used now as a sniper in some branches of the american military.

and after a quick google I found out that the m-14 was developed after WWII as a replacement for the BAR and the garand. they were used in korea and vietnam, and everyone who used them loved the gun for everything except the weight.

and if you don't want the cold-war/WWII feel, use different textures then pepper, the new ones are black steel, matte black plastic, and some crome around the trigger, chamber, and end of the barrel.

link
this is the 5p version, the pics i sent were the good old 5

so you can still use my pics as reference for the accual model, just steel the 2 textures from the link above

just because its wood and steel doesn't mean its old.

AND, this is the MINI-14, not the M-14, so no full auto.

Google found the pics

M-14 = semi + full auto, 7.62mm.
User posted image
(this is a 3d model of one)

Mini14 = semi auto, 5.56mm
User posted image
and they do make newer Mini's, google or go to the ruger site for pic's. the new one is that matte black plastic/metal combo. I like the wood one I sent pictures to pepper of better.
there different

know your guns

EDIT:
The gun I sent the pics of was manufactured in the Ruger factory 40miles from me in 1994. Then sold that same year at hogans alley, which was once a very large gun store, but now has conveted to become the largest paintball + airsoft store in my state. so its no where near a WWII gun

the mini-14 you got pictures of wasn't from WW-II.

its a cold war era M14 that was shrunk. the M14 is an activly used rifle in the Delta Force.

so its not a relic of WWII, although the design for the M14 did come out either in late WWII or Vietnam (can't remember)

so, what would you rather have? The 2-4 most logical choices a person would make, or as many as I can think of?

And I mean, come on, what is he going to do other then go or not?

"Drive under it" said Amber, calmly

"huh?" responded Josh

"get up fast enough and go right under it, if we hit a leg it will just lose its balance, we will be fine." Amber said, still completly unfazed by the weight of the situation.

"This better work"

The APC started moving toward the stider, Tom asked "Mark, put the rocket in the stiders belly, quick!"

Mark didn't ask why, they were only 30 yards away and speeding up. He grabed the rocket Tom had modified and shoved it in the breach of a launcher. 10 yards and Mark pressed the button to pop the hatch. The hatch openend, Mark stuck the rocket laucher out, pointing it strait up. The strider's body was just ahead, Mark fired. The rocket shot up, its momentum still carring it forward. Mark saw it strike the belly of the strider as they passed under it. as they sped past it a disipating Jet of flame could be seen coming out of the top, along with a viscostic blue goo bleeding out the bottom. It's legs started to go limp, but Josh took the APC around a corner and Mark lost sight of it, so he ducked back into the APC.

"I should make more of those," commented Tom "they seem to work really well"

Mark looked at the main screen and saw a rear view had been brought up, so they all could see the strider's demise

"Ya, they do. That was a good shot to Mark." said Dan as he patted Mark on the back

"theirs no chance of the strider following us now." said Tom

"And the other one?" asked Dan

"To slow and far away, we have noting to fear from it." answerd Tom

"were there anyway, no need to argue now," interjected Josh "Some of us will have to walk ahead and tell them not to shoot though, seeing as were in the very well know combine APC.

"why don't Me and Mark go," suggested Tom "Mark?"

"sure" Mark replied

He and Tom jumped out, and Mark started following Tom. The APC was hidden, in a dark corner behind a dumpster. The dark made mark realize how dark it had gotten, so he looked to the sky, seeing it as a dull orange in the distance, Night was comming fast. The dark shadows everywhere were cast from the old buildings, Mark thought they were werehouses or factories. He caught up to Tom as he turned down and alley and knocked on the door that was there.

"Who is it?" came a voice from inside

"Its Zorro" Tom told the voice, mark assumed zorro was a password or something

The door swung inward and two men were pointing their guns right at Tom, but they lowered them when they saw there were no combine near by.

Tom spoke first "hey, guys. I got a combine APC full of ammo and a few guys, so could you guys open loading bay door so we can park it where it won't be seen."

"eh, a combine APC, whatever you say Tom, we trust ya." said the man on the left

"but how did you get it here without us knowing, our lookouts should have informed us." said the other. he took out his radio and started talking into it.

The man on the other end replied "well, see...we heard the strider and thought it would be best to stay out of sight. So we really didn't have a view of anything"

the man with the radio mumbled something about them being idiots. Then yelled to the other side of the building to get one of the loading docks open and a ramp out. Tom told Mark to got tell his brother to drive the thing in, so mark started walking back. He had trouble spoting the APC in the dusk light, but when he got close enough to where it was he saw it. He knocked on the hatch and jumped in when it opened.

"your all clear, one of the loading docks is open for you." he told Josh. the APC began moving, turning down a road between the buildings, it was short, maybe 25 feet, ending in a closed courtyard that had loading docks in the back. one of them was open and two guys were hauling a wooden ramp out of it. They layed the ramp down, giving Josh a way to get into the elevated door. Josh pulled up and parked inside, he shut down the APC and opened the hatch. Mark followed Amber and Dan out of the APC. He found himself in a garage area, their were a couple of cars in the back, and a few guys dressed like mechanics in the area. A group of rebels walked up the APC, one went in once Fitz had gotten out with the help of Josh.

"Hey, guys, word is spreading about me and Tom being here. Were ah...well know for our standup comedy. So we are going to check in with Mr. Deuce, the guy in charge. He has the latest news, so do you guys want to come?

A) go now, mingle with local resistance members later

B) go mingle with local resistance members now, get the news second hand later

how hard would it be to do some copying and changeing to add a new weapon.

I had the Idea last sunday after taking the Mini-14 to the range that it would be good in Hostage situation, 20 round clip, 5.56mm, accurate, semi-auto.

if pepper or Muzzle wanted to make it I could give them as many pictures as needed.

but thats just a sugustion

in Brushes behind Skybox Post #145397
backups are called the .RMX and .MAX files

to fix that the best thing to do would be a rectangular brush(like a wall) with the SKIP texture, then texture the side facing the skybox with HINT, that should fix it, if not then with some tweaks.

it should be in your Half-life/Valve folder, or the correct GCF file in the SteamApps directory. use GCFscape to get at it if it is in the GCF.

then make sure under
Tools->Options->textures you have Halflife.wad and anyother wad you want to use in the box.

and yes, in general, prefabs arn't real useful

in rotating doors! Post #145390
ill explain it, the tutorial does a good job if you read it carefully though

a rotating door is like a normal door in alot of ways. but there are two things that are different
1) its a func_door_rotating instead of a normal func_door
and
2) it needs a brush textured with ORIGIN to be part of the door, the center of the brush is the point it will rotate around

make your door brushs, but don't make it a entity yet. then, on the side you want it to rotate, make a square/rectangle that has the texture ORIGIN on all sides, the X in the middle of this brush is the point the door will rotate about. Then select both the ORIGIN brush and the brush(s) that you want to rotate. tie them to a func_door_rotating and set it up. the tutorial should have good info on what most of the things that are neccisary do

Ethyle(Sp)-Brazil and the US combined can meet the worlds needs if everything switch to it from oil. since it can be made from corn or sugar

Fusion- were getting close, but give it till 2050

Hydrogen- a new process has been developed that uses bacteria that digust waste and give off Hydrogen. this would do a job that would solve both the hydrogen production needs and the waste of the world, atleast to some extent
