Those are the three main items i think. Also, from reading your shout, I"m not sure if you can specifically read the "+" and "-" buttons... But it's been a while since I used these.

Linking them together can be a pain. Just a fair warning - the player doesn't like being inside a fast moving moving object. You will probably get thrown out of the plane to your death.

Might i recommend a "enter" and "exit" function:
Enter - "use" the plane, activate a point_viewcontrol so the player's view is locked to the plane (you can even read keyboard/mouse commands to cycle cameras if you wish)
Exit: By parenting a point_teleport to the plane on a certain side, whenever you "exit" the plane, you're just teleporting the player to this spot outside the plane.

So when you're riding the plane, the player is standing.. somewhere else in order to avoid gravitational catastrophe

BTW I've made a rudimentary player controlled flying plane before.
I can send you the map, but I'm at work for the next 8 hours so I'm of no help until after that.

Lol

Ghost, if you want to help digging, continue the tunnel north from the tall tower.

Press F3 to bring up the coordinates - The tunnel starts at around (1375, 810)
Dig until you hit the end. There's some glass and a sign stating that you have reached the end of the north passage.

From there, feel free to either create a station on the surface, or continue the tunnel west.

Urby, pick a box near the start of the dig to drop off supplies (same coordinates as above). You can lay some track if you wish.

The entire Transit system will be lit and safe!
It's under construction right now so that's the only reason why there might be some danger.

If you head to the end of the 2x2 tunnel i have carved north, you'll see a sign noting the end of the northern travel.

Feel free to help with the dig effort!

WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!!
Over the last two days. You also have a few caverns beneath your land.
If you head to Stojkens' Tall tower, go down his waterfall shaft, you will see the tunnel extending north.

About 200 meters north of the entrance to the tunnel you will see a maintenance access on the right. 100m further than that there is one on the left. Its not blocked off though so there might be mobs. (These maintenance access doors lead to caverns. I have lit them with torches but only mined the coal)

Anyway. Once I finished the tunnel I was planning on building a station on the ground level and building a road leading towards the closest settlement.

So I've been trying to work on the transit system. I've been keeping with Stojken's look and feel for a consistent look but its a CRAPLOAD of work digging a 4x8 tunnel...

Anyway. This is my plan for the TWHL Transit System. Feel free to comment / augment.

I think we should make a road map as well. I have started a road that spans Viagoria to Rimoria (as you all probably know) but it needs extension.

Transit system north has been started from tall tower. It extends to about y=530 and then it will head west to connect the other continents.
Is a GIANT tunnel so help is appreciated :-)

Stojkens i like your style so I'm trying to continue with that theme.

Well.. Viagoria only extends to the bottleneck of the Island (Around 1760, 1700) So "Tetsu0's Place" Is really anything south of that :-P

Your bunker is on your land according to the Latest Issue of Planet TWHL.

Urby what are the coordinates of your old bunker? I can't see anything.
(Unless you're talking about 1670, 1500)

Hey if anyone wants to donate some Iron to me, I'll start work on the Transit system. I'll Connect all the major continents starting from spawn. There will be a central network located around 1190, 940.

If anyone wants to donate to the effort, please put a box with some supplies in there.

I' have a few thousand cobblestone, but i'd rather make it nice so if anyone can donate some coal so i can make stone bricks that would be WONDERFUL!!

I'll do the work; I just don't have the supplies.

I started from scratch and everything worked fine.
It sucks that I had to do that.

Starting Monday (Aug 12th) I legitimately NEED to figure this all out the RIGHT way so I'm going to be doing some more research on the matter.

Also in looking at the map it seems the road to spawn could have been made easier if i went straight north from rimrooks and actually hooked around the mountain. My bad.

I did find 2 caverns during my construction. One beneath the mountain directly south of spawn, and one under Rimrooks area - I'm scared of that one though - came up from the ground... mini zombies everywhere

True. Either way my bridge is not FULLY complete. I'd like it to have railings like the one leading south from Rim's Place.
And I also recently started working on my house. Its' a tree-house spanning two very large jungle trees in the southernmost tip of my island.
Right now the only way up is a natural vine rope but i will change those to ladders once i have the necessary resources.

I plan on planting a farm on my roof. Totally green you know, lots of good sunlight when you're 4+ stories high :-P

After my house is complete, Rim i plan on demoing that unsightly road entrance in your walls and moving it somewhat outside...

Had i known about the "f3" button earlier, i would have used math instead of guesswork to construct that road.

I don't remember seeing the compile tools reference models however.

Either way, check the coordinates.

Well i was under the impression we could do what we wanted... Since this map was based off TWHL planet (version 3?) I Found 'my' country, and I created a bridge to mainland...

Yeah i like this world.

Day 3 status final:

Road connecting Spawn to rimrooks, and Rimrooks to Tetsuo's is complete.

Started work on my house in the trees.

Rimrook, i kinda misjudged the exit of the road to spawn.. its inside your walls. let me know if this is ok?
I will move it if you don't want it there.

Roads complete. Working on fencing for bridge so you don't fall off.
Also working on widening the diagonal part spanning the ocean
Man there is SO MUCH material in this bridge.

kinda makes you wonder about actual infrastructure lol

The great people of Viagoria have crossed the mountains and erected another settlement. Along the way they came across a great book of knowledge teaching them the ways of green energy and lean manufacturing.

The first hydroelectric plant was built on the Stoneface River.
This has allowed the people to prosper and expand.
Thanks to the surplus of building supplies, the Great-Sigmond Bridge is under construction.

One day the peoples of Flaccidia and Viagoria will unite and prosper!

The bridge engineers planned for this bridge to have two tiers. One for foot and horse traffic, one for train.

DAY THREE

After completing my sandstone shelter i started digging.
I found a cavern with lots of iron, coal, and unfortunately, skeleton archers.

It took me some time to clear out the cavern but i was successful. The mining operation began immediately. I mined close to 600 stone and began work on the bridge to the mainland.

I ran out of stone but i can see the mainland from the end of the bridge.
One more day of mining and the lands shall be connected!

Skeletons killed: 10
Zombies killed: ~25
Spiders Killed: 3
Baby Zombies killed: 1
Creepers killed: 0
Creepers that blew up my house: 1

Upon making a boat, i have reached my land.
There are many horses here. Chickens a-plenty.
Lots of trees and a fine sandy beach.

Viagoria is a wonderful place.

Yeah the computer version and tablet versions are separate.
I think the mobile/tablet versions are around $6.00 USD

Also i liked that MC server :)
We could have a paypal donation set-up so one person doesn't have to front the full amount of cash.

Well Brendamnit's fix works perfectly except i only changed the VMF location to half-life2/ep2/maps

I kept the build programs the same as setup with the .bat file. (Source SDK 2013 programs)

Although dimbark was sending me maps and i was getting the "map extents too large" error.

Maybe it has something to do with the different compiling programs?

TL;DR:
For Episode 2 Mapping, Don't Use Source SDK anymore
  • install and Run (once) Source SDK base 2013
  • Go to SDK Basebin Files, Run Hammer.bat
  • Launch Hammer
  • Change output vmf directory to Episode 2
  • Profit?

yeahhhhhhh i can't find the Ep2 launcher. (which, btw i need for the Hammer Configuration) I have the Hl2.exe but if i browse the local files from the Ep2 properties in steam it just brings me to the HL2 base folder.
