Okay, I've decided to make these posts more blog like. I guess I'll reveal more about the development process rather than just spamming you with media. (which is fun too, so I may have spamming on occasion.. heh)
As you may have noticed, I'm a fan of the detail each room, then add entities approach, a lot of people are against this and like big boxes of dev. Personally I think dev textures stem my creativity and leave the map feeling empty and without purpose.
So
it's sometimes hard in this case to add that final polished touch to a section of your map when you're still trying to think big picture. For instance I had this screenshot of my bathroom area:
it's alright, not great, but it has the basic elements down, the props, setting etc and is pretty much ready for the npc's right? Wrong. It still needs that extra bit of polish to let you move on. I guess what that area was really lacking was better contrast in the lighting, Trapt pointed this out and did a nifty drawover:
