in texture not compiling with model Post #283751
a reference model is the actually polygons
And it also contains bone information, and that's all a sequence needs.

Ever opened a reference .smd in notepad and checked out what it looked like?

Anyways, this is all irrelevant, I'll cease posting in here as i have no help to offer to the OP.

Why are you using the reference model as your animation model?

This is what it should look like
Have you ever compiled a model before? It really doesn't matter.

Neat. Not too many maps with detail under the water.
Generally 'n00bs' just create a non solid brush and don't even care about properly setting the opacity of the texture, therefore they couldn't care less about what's under the water.

Good to see you aren't one of those joe.

300$,

ATI Radeon HD 4650
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1.8 GB DDR2 2500 MHZ (?)
Gigabyte K8N-SLI

Runs crysis fine on high, give or take. (800x600 1024x768, no aa on either)

Runs most games fine as well, so really even though those new machines by the big companies are powerful, you're better off just making a rig for what YOU want to run, and not have a rig that's overkill for what you're looking for.

In before people flame you saying you only dislike current gen games because you can't run them.

No seriously though, you may want to try picking up a copy of a good unreal engine 2 game, those generally are small and unrealed is great, stuff such as the original unreal tournament, rainbow six 3 raven shield, and any of the other unreal tournament games should do fine really.

The only gcf that contains more then the shared files is the game content, half life 2 has only 800 mbs, so either way you have to download 3 gigs of content, plus the content size of whatever game you are mapping for.

You can't map for source, you map for the game.

Source is a engine, nothing more.

The 5 gigs is shared game files which you WILL need if you want to map, unless you feel like making each and every single resource for the map, and coding a whole new game from scratch, and then coding out the bridge between hammer and your game.

You can't 'map' for source.

Try re-installing and be sure to remove the custom dll.

Could you rephrase, that really made no sense at all.

And to the question, whatever it is, there is no program for porting, you compensate using your knowledge of the engines you are trying to port from and to.

I lolled. You don't just require some ones skills and then go: oh right, did I forget to mention? you're doing this for free.
It's a billboard model.

I doubt anyone would really get money off something that simple, unless it has a billion polys and has 2048x2048 textures, at which point you're selling the TEXTURES, not the model.

Something like a charactor model, weapon model would make a lot more sense.

You have to pay to use and publish using the UDK. Plus it's alot more complicated than hammer.
You don't pay anything for udk so long as you don't sell your work.
And it's only complicated for someone who's never used a professional map editor and has only used a basic tool like hammer.

Need for speed undercover.
Burnout paradise the ultimate box.
Osmos.

So basically i didn't really pay 50$ for all those games.

Do not edit the qc file, generate a half life QC file.

Another thing, the way you have UV mapped the terrain is incorrect, or the program does it incorrectly, and the texture is screwed up.

Primitive Version of Half-Life 2 featuring numerous bugs and glitches, weak graphics, and highly condensed gameplay
As been said a dozen times, it's not a remake of the half life 2 we have.

It's not a remake of the 'real thing', it's what they imagine a sequel to half life would have been if valve didn't take 7 years to make hl2.

But yes, this has become downgraded to flamewars and insults.

The first wasn't really aimed at the project, but rather the shitstorm following the posting of the thread, which as you can tell, already came.

Second one, was more aimed at the general fact that almost every single mod using this idea has failed horribly, not the mod itself, and as you see in my other post i caught on to the fact that you weren't really trying to make a full port, but rather something a little bit more original\imaginative .

Calm down, i have not posted a single negative thing about your mod so far, other then one off topic post about darkies avatar.

As for the logo, i chose red because it was originally orange, but turned red due to the fact that the layer blend mode was set to 'multiply', and the lambda font?
I figured you might as well make something unique to your mod.

Be thankful i contributed at all, as nobody else will be willing to considering the extreme negativity to the idea alone.

If you know how to compile a normal hl model, then all you need is to decompile the hl2 mdl, open the smd, and use that as you would normally for a hl model, only using a different QC file obviously.

MOTM music shouldn't have lyrics anyway, it's an audio review, words get mixed up.
Which is why acoustic versions were born.

within the boundaries of the GoldSource engine. The vision of the mod is to create Half-Life 2 as we imagine Valve would have done it, had they made it at the time they made Half-Life 1; that means the same resources, limitations and so on. The mod will feature the same graphical style as Half-Life 1.
Which means no physics, no extremely large maps, just basically a sequel made at least 2-3 years after the first, thus limitations.

But the problem, how would you know exactly how they would have made hl2 before 2002-3?

This is all very vague.
