Not sure exactly when you played it, but I don't remember that comment being there before I updated it.

It has now been updated, with better lighting in the graveyard, and a new sky with a full moon.

Not sure exactly what sounds/music I should put in, so recommendations would be great.

If it's on WON, you probably need to update to 1.5, since the install CD puts on 1.0.

Graveyard, My new unfinished map. I'm kind of stuck on what to do next, so please, give me some ideas.

Please comment and rate. So far the people in IRC seem to like it very much, so it ain't that bad. ;)

If you are going to rate, please comment. Just a simple "Good map" or "This needs fixing up". I can't stand bad ratings and not knowing what's wrong with it.

Apparently, the judges decision was unanimous. Both Andy and Seventh agreed straight away.

Bullsh*t! (lol) You can have about 1500 w_poly and 6000 e poly before it gets unplayable and laggy, on a half decent PC, I have GF2 and Athlon1800 and my PC sucks, yet I'll be able to run that fine.
Be sure it runs fine on the machines of the judges, though...
Well, that's the trouble. Both Andy and I have sucky video cards. Afaik, Andy has a 16MB card, and I have an Nvidia Vanta 16MB.....

My first serious post was this:
well i dont stand a chance of winning but im entering anyway

Mines an abandoned stamp factory with a big old rusty stamp machine there. Although it looks nothing like a stamp machine (not that i would know what that looks like anyway), it looks alright. When I finish this i might extend the map and chuck in some gameplay Sound fun? Walking around an abandoned factory with monsters around every corners as well as some nice weak floors to fall through (which i would imagine might get annoying after u fall through a few of them)

Oh well, there goes the idea for my entry... not that i have a chance of winning because it aint very original and well how functional can an old unusable machine be?.... lol

I'm looking forward to seeing other peoples entries. I just hope i dont come last

Try to stay as close as you can to the reference pic, if you can. I'm sure you won't get penalized too much for straying away from the reference pic, but don't just get the base architecture and start piling in stuff that's not in the pic.

Try and do what you want, but the map should still be easily recognisable from the pic.

And how could a map in space show skill? All it would be would be a map inside a giant skybox, and each map would be too similar. Surely that can't be any good.

Good to see you are busy mapping, Captain P. I'm sure you are more busy doing other things, but hey, who cares. If you don't get it finished, you had nothing to lose in the first place.

That should be peoples thoughts: "I might as well enter, I've got nothing to lose." Except maybe a bit of reputation. But you never know really. :)

Finally, any chance of getting a "Go here for more information" on the actual compo page?

People seem to be full of questions that have been answered in this thread, but some people don't use the forums or don't look in the "Site Comments / Suggestions" part.

Just wonderin'.........

Heh. I played the one in the Unfinished Vault yesterday. I liked it, but the button red light looked like a result from normal lighting. Needs a clue. You might've changed it now, so :)

I was thinking that, I don't think we should be judged down for not using monsters, but someone that can use a monster in a good place, in a new way deserves to be recognised for that. So I would say, no monsters, what does an alien grunt have to do with where you work.
Exactly right... You will not be judged down for not using monsters. If there is however monsters implemented in a new or creative way, then it will be recognised.
To be succesful, I'd imagine using things that people can use in your map, like set up soem fun sequences that happen along the way. To keep the focus on the map as a whole, not jsut yoru architecture.
Once again, you are correct. Maybe some special effects or something similar. Just something to keep the map entertaining.

Hope this clears things up for you people. :)
