You know I like little games like puzzles...Really makes you think and it's even more fun to do this with a friend. I think Portals although not adventure will make a nice little game...Right now a guy is re-creating it for Gmod and I really look forward to this.

As I said i like little mind games...Not the boring chess or cludo mind...But the puzzles that you actually have to involve yourself in aka move objects and stuff.

I have a theory as well...I think if you work on an already existing map then copy it into a new vmf cause I think they did something that affects texture scale and so on...

It's what I read...As an update for mods so they can change from SteamAppID 20 to 15 or something like that. But it is also a Lost Coast FPS test for Valve.

I got 12.5 FPS all the way on full ;)

Nope and that's a good thing.
If you're skilled enough then decompile the map and group blocks together and simply map over it, clip or whatever and then delete the decompiled block.

It's a long process but it works out well.

Not really, depends really on the style you're after...

If you have the scene sorted aka two people talking or somethung but it works only in player view then you need to start by using player viewcontrol and make it follow paths. I can't really go into detail right now.

No Xy, my scale has always been 0.25 and all the textures appear too big, at least any new textures I make aka a new wall with some texture like brickwall/1. They appear double their size and it's annoying, I can't add much to my map...Oh and double wtf to the fact that I made two rooms and only one appeared in the map, I nocliped everywhere.

It's official..Valve have messed it up...
In Hammer textures appear double their scale but if you fit it and try it in-game then it comes out too small...Argh!

Either way the player can slide objects over with the gravity gun. I don't think this is possible unless perhaps in properties you tick something like doesn't allow grav gun to pick up but then if it's possible once the door is opened it triggers the objects to be picked up again.

Not sure if this theory works mind.

What is that orange thing in your map? If it's a teleport then you could make a sort of main area like a base with those custom textures you got. And your map could have rooms that are divided by teleports with the main area being outdoors on a huge hill perhaps surrounded by water with a base.

I see Halo in your map...At least the textures remind me of it.

I looked, not in sourcematerials and not in EP1...Weird mind you when Hammer was updated I searched for the first new textures I could think of and nothing showed.

Oh and Valve didn't supply us with the Hammer models for the new NPC's...You can manually place them in Hammer if you want...

The gameinfo error has added a load of random mods in my Steams list like maps, cgi etc...ARGH and it crashes so easily! I CAN'T MAP! I'm not one to bash Valve cause while everyone else had problems and I didn't...But now I am getting errors and that my good lads...bites the dust on this one.

It may not be but it saves seconds when rotating something to quickly clip or vertix. Then you can simply rotate back without having to zoom in and check if it's straight. Which most of the time isn't...

Rotation tool when you rotate something but if you told tab is rotates 45 degrees. This does not work any more...So it's hard to align objects.

Well at least Valve gave us the cs_militia vmf...Also we can see overlays now..The huge block in the middle is transparent.

The new 3D lighting preview isn't working either and the point_spotlight is easier to click. Logic view lets you see how entities are connected supposedly.

To fix most prblems, run HL2, CSS etc before modding.

Oh and the 3D model viewer is faster.

At first I didn't understand the camera fix...But I had no idea you could make static cameras...Cool. Simply click on the gridlines with the camera tool and then it will fix...Will I have to do this everytime...

The answer is yes...And now all my floors are ultra shiny in Hammer...

Gonna try some things now...I hope they fixed rotating objects...This better not be just an Episode One config...

Error no. 1: Missing gameinfo.txt in sourcemods folder...Ahem...

And again...It keeps saying missing gameinfo in folders like maps, materials etc...Not too happy with this...

O, I see HL2 Episode 1 in my list now...

Opens up...First error...Can't see anything in the 3D view...Thank God this didn't happen as I finished up my compo map. The rotation tool is still broken...

Places an NPC_Fisherman and it brings up Barney...And NPC_Furniture?...I see Ministrider as well...And at last the Zombine. I placed a ministrider and Hammer crashed. Hunter is gonna love this...<_>

If you don't know then remember to type cl_drawhud 0 and impulse 200 when taking pictures of maps.

Looking spiffy but you got that nasty ultra cubemap effect that I read about...According to the tutorial I read...That isn't the result you want...

How very strange...When did this start happening? Perhaps if you saved an older copy of the VMF then you could add bits from the broken VMF until the error occurs.

Even though you have a leak this still concerns me:

Brush 135574: WARNING, microbrush
Brush 135584: WARNING, microbrush

Copy brush number and go to brush coordinates and paste that in and enter and Hammer will take you to the problem.

Hammer is buggy my friend...It sometimes stops remembering groups and they all dissapear until you re-load the map in Hammer.

I know too well the countless bugs that have annoyed me...

Just a question because I'm not the smartest guy in the World when it comes to PC hardware etc...But my PC feels as though it has gotten perhaps slower and programs often crash with ease aka Hammer.

I have 3Gb free on C drive and 7 free on D drive - I was thinking of defragging...Do you agree?

My other question is is there like a 'free' program that checks your computer for any problems aka hardware or software...Just want to know because it would be so easy if a program just scanned your whole PC for problems...I doubt this exists.

Hmm...So you're using Gman because he relates to the Gman in Day13-14.
Add some really nice evil sound effects in the background as he slowly walks towards you.

I picture the scene as being: A group of men and women lean against a wall and then you see the Gman walking towards you but on the way he walks in-between this group. As you see him a trigger plays a really gloomy / evil pitch noise and each of these people die and some could run but not escape.

Sounds simple for most of it except the running away cause they'll run too fast heh.

In Gmod, when you open the menu...You get the option to turn fog on. Below the on button is a small figure type thing that you can manually change in-game without having to type fogcolour 00100110 in console a hundred times.

Mess around with it till you get the right start, end and colour.

I was planning on parenting a trigger_hurt to a ragdoll that squirms around and tries to follow you. Thanks for the video cause it shows it works well.

No don't! I used to map for HL1 and then moved to Source...One day I felt like trying to map for HL1 again and I just can't...Valve updated Hammer with so many easy things like for instance you don't have to keep selecting a brush once in texture mode...Little things like this got me and also you're restricted to map size and detail which I'm not used to anymore in Source...Maps can be pretty huge now.
