And mapping if for you and you only, if some one else likes your work, that's great, and if everyone but yourself hates it, then that's perfect too.

I think what Andy Steinin and Seventh have said, sums up mapping perfectly:
You remember those things that you've learned yourself.
The whole point of mapping is that you can do something original.
It is about the JOY you first felt when you created a simple room with a metal texture and ran around Banging your Crowbar on it.

also, for rocks its a good idea to select all the 'rock' brishes, go to the tex. app tool, it will all be blank, check the "Treat as one" and "To world" boxes, now set the scale, rotation to about 30 and align to top, then left, viola, perfect seamless rocks ;)

Yeees, we all code our own weapons here, and we also model and skin them, in fact the reason we don't work for a company, since we are so good at coding and making whatever we want.....

Don't simplify things, they are not as straight foward as they seem, merging 2 mods is virtually impossible, and even if you had both of the source codes, it wil be a monumental task to code all the things in.

And there's NO WAY you can mix multiplayer and singleplayer mods...

switch off smart edit, and add keys to the multi manager manually,

like:

light1
value: 0

light1
value: 10

(hammer wll automatically format your triggers for you)

now if you make the button target the multimanager, it will turn it on, (providing that the light was set to 'initially dark') , and then turn it back on again 10 seconds later

Right, bit late comming, but:
The null texture:
Its INCONCLUSIVE

The null texture indeed, works.

But, and this is a big but, it doesen't seem to make any big difference in the example maps, however, in larger maps, it makes an enormous difference. I won't include those larger ones as examples for obvious reasons...

It also has the effect of reducing bsp size, the first map, is 200KB (No null textures) the second one is 180KB (with null texture stripping)

This is a very small difference, but if you apply this to a larger map, this means you can reduce the bsp size by up to 20%

The wPoly reduction is a mere 30 to 20, very small, but this was with full vis.
Most people run normal vis, which means the reduction will be a noticable one.
However, the fps rate went up by 1.5 frames on average...

So you see, if you don't use it, you're not missing much, but if you do use the null texture, then be aware that it only makes a difference in large quantities.

(i'll upload those example maps later on)

And loque: Check your spec, if your comp is less than a month or so old, you can run every map with no problems.... :zonked:
