Now that we have more than two entries coming, its time to pick a deadline. I was thinking of next saturday, June 14th. Let me know if thats too quick.
Muzz are you doing one?
No, i don't have time to do any mapping, as im working on my Compilator, which is awesome w00t pwn bbq!

here used to be a tutorial on this at the old VERC website before it got shut down.
Yeah, but the links are all dead. VERC is a mess.

Pretty darn neat!

Omg! Did i saw that correct? Headcrabs detach from their hosts (the zombie) as soon as you kill it?

Would you mind telling me how that's done? I tried to add this into my Uplink Extended mod but failed horribly. I will give you full credit.

Sucks indeed. I recognize myself in that situation as well.
Searching through TWHL's old threads definitely could use some improvements.

At least make it so that we can view all the posts of each individual member.

I totally agree with you on this, Unb.

Loffe, what are you're Riva FLV Encoder settings and what was your screenresolution at the time of the recording?

Rofl, thats just like Camtasia!
But free software beats commercial software in this case, so im going to use CamStudio for all my screenrecordings from now on.
Thanks, potatis. :)

But for some strange reason i can't figure out, that FLV encoding program doesn't seem to load correctly. All i get is an interface that looks unfinished or hasn't fully loaded yet. Look:

http://www.themightyatom.nl/screenshots/flv_encoder_borked.jpg

This is the free 30 day trial version from http://www.rivavx.com/index.php?downloads0&L=3.

What could be the problem?

Why don't you just move all your mods (the mod folders) to a temporary folder, then uninstall HL, clean your HL dorectory, and then reinstall HL back into that directory. Then you update to version 1.1.1.0. and then you put all your mods from your temp folder back into your HL folder. That way you don't have to reinstall every single mod.

in The VOX Post #250643
So I can make my own folder with lots of words and make sentences just like this?
Maybe. Never tried it so i don't know.
And these sentences can be spoken by certain monsters, right?
VOX sentences are used by the announcement system, not by monsters. Use the speaker entity to make you custom VOX sentences work ingame.

If you just want a monster, like a scientist to say something, you just record the sentence with either your own voice or get a voice actor to do it for you, then put the file in sound/whatever, and you use a scripted_sentence to make the sci actually say your line.
Note that you need to make a new entry in the sentences.txt file.
Posted 16 years ago2008-05-28 14:01:43 UTC
in The VOX Post #250633
No, you can't make your own words (unless you record them yourself and add robotic feel to it).

To make custom VOX sentences, you're only limited to the words in the VOX folder.

You'll need to add a new line to the sentences.txt file. Only sentence per line. Example:

CUSTOMVOX01 bloop(p150) bloop(p150), attention, whiskey for gordon freeman immediately

CUSTOMVOX01 = the name of the custom VOX sentence.
bloop = an announcement sound thingy
(p150) = Pitch (default: 100) There is also (t#), (e#) and s(#) is believe.
Comma's are used for a short pause.

Who feck wants to play a "mod" stuffed with pointless example maps? That doesn't add anything to the actual gameplay. If you really want a TWHL mod, simply put together a nice singleplayer map. If everyone who's interested in making a singleplayer map, we'll stuff everything together and make a mod out of it, Reissues style, where the player can pick a map.
Then at least there's some gameplay, puzzling and combat involved and each individual map or maps will have their own storyline.

"A mod with only example maps!"
Give me a break man! Sheesh!

in Hammer has gone apeshit. Post #250593
Actually, its better to use a FGD that is specially made for a specific version of Hammer.

Here's the latest FGD that works with Hammer 3.4/5: http://www.themightyatom.nl/hldownloads/Half-Life_fgd.zip

This one has sprite and model support (you can actually see sprites and models in Hammer).

Its all about teamwork, leadership and organizing. If any of that fails, the whole project fails. I've seen it happen before.
most people eventually moved on to other projects

in No Draw Brush Post #250479
To me it looks like those Nodraw brushes are placed to seal off leaks, as displacement surfaces don't seal off the map.

Also, the nodraw and clip textures aren't the same, the HL1 equivalent is the Null texture, which is just an invisible solid brush. You can't shoot though it, but you can with clip brushes.

in Multiple BSP copy locations possible? Post #250213
Well, I hate manually backing stuff up onto separate hard drives and such all the time, so the idea struck me: Is there any way Hammer or some other front end compiler could be set up to copy the BSP to more than one location after the compile is finished? It'd sure make things easier. In the Build Programs tab of the options menu in Hammer, there's obviously only one location that can be set up for this, but is there any sort of compile parameter I could use to do the same thing?
I can easily add a feature like that into The Compilator. You can either backup the bsp file, or the rmf/vmf file, or both.

Should i add it in?
