Nothing strange in this one. I think it's quite possible to happen in real life.

We're going to need two judges, I think. If ny 9pm GMT tomorrow no one else had volunteered I'll be second judge. Unless there just about 3-4 entries.

Just let people rate them.

Or maybe I can withdraw my entry and judge along with someone else (I can mail a few people)

Rowleybob, I think the glowing eye will be too much. And it will be too bright then.

PaLO, I was girst thinking of making a super-detailed stereo with CD/DVD/MP3 support, but then I realized theres isn't going to be any conpetition (notice how unostentatious am I :) ). Then the statue idea came in. I was too tired to make a lion and the nazi eagle kinda got stuck in my mind. It could be usefull for some WW2 based maps, like assoult on the nazi HQ or something.

9pm GMT is just perfect, especially when I'm ready now :)

One more thing - since you mentioned 'no entities' does the func_wall count? Cause if so, then polygon limiting will be a great issue...

More good that happened to me: I've just came back from the local med center and I get 1 week off school. Great!

Well, I'm amazed that people here don't know me. May be I should change my user name.

Name: Viktor Kostadinov (no, it's not greek...)
Nick Name: Phuture Tech (abbreviation PTS)

Andy: No, I wasn't thinking you and kol are evil twins :D . Altough it was a possiblity... BTW, where did that guy dissappeared? And, yeah, The Project was all doomed from the very beginning. What would you expect with such a leader?
(lol, just kidding :) )

The mod failed, because of four things:
1. My map ideaas where too difficult to acomplish (especially this 'Wolfpack thingie...)
2. I wasn't really trying too hard with my mapping and leading efforts (mapping isn't my only concern)
3. HL2 was close to come and people didn't really wanted to have HL1 mod at that time
4. I had a team of noobie assholes (no offence people, I admit I was an asshole as well...)

And for that tutorial, yeah, it was a good one. May be I should put it in the tut-section of the twhl.

are you sure about not limiting the polygon count? coz if you are, then im gonna make myself a "small" model of the New York city ...um, I think you have to limit it...
Exactly what I meant - if there's no limit it wont be fear. Someone could just take a model and convert it to a prefab (altough there's no such tool people with strong nerve will be able to do it). So. the averege count (wich doesn't oush the engine too hard) is about 1200-1500. At 2000 your game is likely to crash. Let's say in the room you're going to have may be 2-3 diffirent polyconsumming props. Therefor the limit should be about 400 maximaly 600. Agreed?

Pretty much everyone can judje the maps. I thing these should be the judging criteria for all props:

1. Texture alignment
2. How close it is to real life
3. Polygone count (maximum should be choosen)
4. Misc things, like clip brushes and so

DOes anyone has something to add?

Hacking brings you some higher state of fun - you realise you're better than the ordinary browsing people around. Especially when you break into someones machine... uber exciting!

Try the Street Hacker - it not only involves hacking but phraeking as well - you can buy a machinegun, inflirtate the Empire State Building, shoot all the gurds, disable cameras, phone lines, etc., and when the SWAT comes to the scene take hostages. Just rocks me...

Old news, Seventh.
Before anyone begins to think otherwise, AutoCad is just a tool. Just like you need to know how to add and divide before you use a calculator, you need to understand enginnering and architectural principles before AutoCad will be of any real use to you.
Uhm, I think I just said that. Anyway, your comparison was better. I'm not really mapping as a hobby, cause I only map from time to time (usualy with 3-6 moths pauses). What I really like to do is designing ting to kill people with. I guess I have to meet with some psychiatrist for that, cause I started building somethig...really nasty...

AutoCAD is good only if you have some solid engineering background, because it's just a drawing software. To simulate things you might use the Havok engine, build in 3DS Max.

I'm in an architecturial school right now, so mapping gives me the chance to see my PHuture projects.

I'm afraid not, Mephs, sice that way diffirent POV will produce the same picture and this is not the desired effect. Instead use a powerfull elctromagnetic field to warp the light or special meterial, wich allows the light to slide over it, instead being reflected.
Posted 20 years ago2004-10-06 11:11:12 UTC
in This is amazing! Post #64446
The olny way to make this thing fully insvisible is to make the light go around it. When something doesn't reflect light, can't be seen by the unperfect human eye. Just warp the light waves around it and then bring them back to normal trajectories. No shdows, no reflection. Simple, eh?

Jahzel, your link says nothing about invisible suits.
