No, it'll set the turret's origin to 0, 0, 0 at the map's center. Any rotating entity without an origin treats the world's center as it's origin.

Hammer is the program you need. The filesize is small since it uses the game resources from Half-Life which is much bigger.

Since it appears you still use WON half-life, I'd first suggest getting Steam.

http://www.steampowered.com

For WON you need to open the pak files instead and look for models in one of them.

Anims are part of the mdl model file.

Using HLMV, open the mdl for Barney (barney.mdl) and then click the 'Sequences' tab and select desired seq's. from the dropdown list.

You should run Half-Life with -particles 20000 or so. That might solve the problem, since you shouldn't put your particles after teh pointfile command (afaik, anyways.)

BlueWolf suggested that I flood the facility and have it deeper as one ventures further in allowing him access to higher areas of the facility which I thought would be interesting. Whether it will be in CZ gameplay, I don't know.

That's why it's helpful to use Tabbed Windows in FireFox (Ctrl-T) since they're much faster and easier to use, imo.

Your player start is probably stuck in a world brush. Move it away from the floor and walls and such and see if that fixes the problem.

in Pointfile won't load up Post #68248
Here's a trick that I use that seems pretty efficient:

Set your 3d view to Flatshaded, and load your pointfile in Hammer. Get into the playable area of the map, and 'walk' around. If you see the pointfile inside this playable area, follow it to where it hits a wall or floor or whatnot, and look for black space, since this'll be where a leak is. Repeat until all leaks are found and eliminated.

in Coding...HOW???? Post #68028
First, I'd suggest picking up a book on C++ coding, and learn about the basics of C++. (Some libraries now have eBook programs, most of which contain lots of coding books - see if yours does.)

Once you've got the basics of C++ down, you'll need the Half-Life SDK. As far as I know, it's at the ERC somewhere. Otherwise, Google it.

I'd assume the ERC would be the place to go for coding stuff and tuts as well.

in Aliens took my mom Post #67690
It helps to have a descriptive topic name.

The @ in the SteamApps username is actually a problem, so it's good you don't have one of those older accounts.

Steam is installing Counter-Strike to the correct folder. You see, it stores base game content in it's own cache files (GCF) which are in steamapps, and then all customized content, mods, etc, are stored in steamappsaccountnamecounter-strikecstrike or half-lifevalve or something. Your Cstrike dir is where all custom maps and content need to go, valve is just there because it's a HL-engine based game.

To install Half-Life, just right-click the Half-Life Lambda icon shown in your "My Games" list and click "Install Game" from the contextual menu that pops up. Wait for it to download, and then you're good to go.

To make a mod co-op, you'd need to do new coding.

To have monsters in maps, you also need to re-code, or have server ops run sv_allowmonsters 1.
