Had i known you guys already had something in the works i would've not created this thread, but maybe for the next competition, we can have the poll under the shout-box decide the theme?

in Warp Drive - For Real? Post #266735
Worldcrafter, E=MC^2 is not a theory, it's been proven dude.
IT states that Energy Equals Mass times the speed of light squared. Since the speed of light is a constant of nature (CANNOT BE CHANGED) It states that the faster something is accelerated (Kinetic Energy K=M*V) The mass MUST increase because the speed of light cannot.

And this HAS to happen due to the fundamental laws of conservation of energy and conservation of mass.
Anyway. I think we as a human race must grasp and understand the 4th dimension, whatever it may be, before any of this crap is possible.
But like i said before. It's not happening in my lifetime so i'm not going to worry about it. Unless i get contracted to study it somehow....
But i doubt as an electrical engineer i'm going to be thinking of ways of how to make a fold in space from here to Betelgeuse.
And i believe a paradox would be like.. traveling back in time and talking to yourself?
It could also be two docks on a lake in a pair.

Lol. Careful of what you say about the mods there El Capi'tan.
So i guess the choices thus far are as follows :

Vanilla Map
Reconstructification
Map a Movie ver. 2
Map from Layout

And all 4 of those are open for Goldsource AND Source

Pretty Good. But i think we need more votes, or take a poll, or Have Hotdog Decide, or Have the Mods decide.
Whatever.

I agree with strider. It takes about the same amount of time to learn source as goldsource. Only difference is, you already know basic architecture and leak prevention if you previously mapped for GS. So basically you have an advantage.
The input/output system is crazy IMO. I just never took the time to learn it. I have adjusted to goldsource so it scares me to move on to source when i already know how to map for GS. Thats what stops me from source mapping.
Plus the engine can handle a lot more detail, and the lighting is 10x better than GS. But as a trade-off you need to be much more particular about the lighting. Because modding communities such as TWHL are quite critical when it comes to lighting.
I digress
I just have to dedicate some serious time to learn source.

"Map from layout"
I'm up for any competition. And the only reason i did not enter destructification was because i didn't like the idea of it.
So any compo other than than that, and i'll enter for sure.

EDIT---
And about hammer 4 mapping for Goldsource, Quote from the WIKI:
Bugs

Hammer 4.x will probably not load any .spr referenced by the .fgd file.
Hammer becomes buggy for some reason.

Seeing as how Hotdog Wishes to enter and cannot create a compo of his choice, I feel as though democracy should choose the next competition.
Should it be open to Source and Goldsource?
Another Deconstructification?
Another Reconstructification?
Shal we split into teams of 2 or 3?
How about Rimrook's Vanilla Map idea? - No custom anything, make the best Valve-like map
I say we should throw around ideas for a week or 2 then vote on the best ideas, and start mapping!

only difference between them is if you reverse bias an electrolytic you can make it explode.

Hey fellas. I'm sure most of you know i built a new computer. I love it But it has it's problems from time to time.
First of all. Once out of every five times i boot it i'll get a blue screen, or it freezes after displaying the MOBO info screen. That's no biggie, all i have to do is reset it and it works fine.
Secondly, i find quite often that my date and time settings are off. Sometimes by an hour or so, but today i logged in (monday) and my computer told me it was sunday. (yesterday)

Now these don't adversely affect my computing experience, they're just annoying. But does anyone have any ideas as to how i could solve this?

in Gaming Addiction Post #265681
Wow that article is quite a read. I don't think 3 hours a day is excessive. I know I've sat down and played Counter-Strike, or Star-craft hell, even RuneScape for runs of 6+ hours. That was before college though. And i noticed one thing that "X" mentioned in the article was. "When you're playing the game, you're happy. You're not thinking about playing because you already are. But when you're away from the game, all you do is think about the game. It lingers in the back of your mind nagging at you. And after a while it wears off but the initial thoughts are really strong and hard to ignore."
I used to play DDR every day after school with my friend 'Duo' (Who actually game me the name 'Tetsuo') We'd catch the bus to my house, grab some water, walk 2 miles to his house, play ddr for 4 or so hours until his parents got home, then we'd just chill for the rest of the day before i'd either walk back to my house, or catch a ride.
I did that every day for about 3 months and i lost 20 pounds and noticed a huge difference in my running stamina. On the down-side, i became increasingly addicted to Techno and electronica and when i closed my eyes to sleep at night i saw arrows streaming down the inside of my eye-lids. Impossibly fast combinations that would not let my mind relax at all.

Life hit me in the face when i went to college. I ended up failing out of my second semester of College because i didn't know how to study. High-school was too easy for me. The only work i did was for research papers and projects. I did my homework in my daily study-hall, or i'd show up to school and hang in the cafe' 30 minutes early and get all my work done. The rest of my day was devoted to playing DDR and this really sweet PS1 game called 'Battle Hunter' I got into college assuming it'd be more work, but i didn't know exactly how much work it would be. I ended up becoming overwhelmed, i didn't know how to study effectively and after staring at a page for an hour or so i'd just want to take a break. Well that break turned into a marathon of different games and i never got any real work done.
/end life story

But i do think video game addiction exists. I know when i was playing runescape all i wanted to do was get to the next smithing level so i can make this piece of armor so i can sell it and make lots of money and then buy this certain piece of armor which costs a terrible amount of gold. And i was also afraid to play world of warcraft because i knew i was going to like it. A lot. So i payed $20 for it one day and had every intention of installing it. And never installed it because i was literally afraid to see the consequences of doing so. I still have the box. Unopened sitting in my drawer.

IMO 3 hours a day is borderline excessive. And it's only excessive if it interferes with your 'real-life'

I was watching the Colbert Report last night. (For all those who don't know, it's the best news program on TV. Highly Satirical, but the news is presented in an 'in your face' highly-amusing fashion)
Anyway. They covered how 3 navy snipers dropped in the water, boarded a ship, and shot 3 shots to kill 3 people.

They then played the clip from Team America : "America... FUCK YEAH! Saving the day from the mother-**** terrorists!!"

It was wonderful.
