Well, I'd suggest getting HLMV and viewing the scientist/barney/whatnot models and seeing if there's an animation that will work. (There's no plain 'dance' animation.) There's a link to the HLMV page on TWHL's link page.

Also, with the Steam HL version, there are two different server mods, HL teamplay and Severian's mod that require no download and are rather fun and teamplay oriented.

Actually for WON I'd get the DoD transparency DLLs, they should be a bit more compatible.

In your pak or GCF, there's a skill.cfg file. Ignore the ominous warning at the top and tweak away.

(Notice there's 3 boxes for each attack/monster. This is for the 3 skill levels, 1 being easy and 3 being hard.)

You'd need to re-code the game to allow zombies to actually use their guns. To equip them with guns just for show, it sounds like some simple QC hacking to me. Check up on the modelling tutorials here and at the HIT Help Desk Forum to get some more information.

You can't set max view distance 90000, afaik....put it in multiples of 16 so it's more friendly to HL.

Well, I've posted Sandstorm up in teh MV.

It's a Water-Wars map that I've placed HL weapons in to test placement for their WW equivalents, since weapon coding on it isn't finished as of yet.

Scale your grid down so you can make the laddder thinner with [, scale it up again with ]. The only one seen is func_wall, yeah. Make sure the func_ladder is flush against the func_wall ladder brush, that would be my only suggestion to making sure it looks perfect.

Depends what game you are mapping for.

Certain games and mods, like CS 1.6 and Natural Selection require Steam for their new features.

The standard is pure blue (0 0 255). I have ones that are pink, white, you name it, just to fit in with the palette though.

The textures also need to be named {texturename with the little bracket in front.

Yeah, you can make maps for CZ. It uses the same FGD for CS 1.6.

It's harder to make maps for CZ: Deleted Scenes. Afaik there's no FGD for it.

Just use the NULL texture from ZHLT.wad on the sides of the river and not AAATrigger, since that will cause that Lightmap for texture AAATrigger error. NULL discards faces it's applied to during the compile process.

Never use AAATrigger on a visible face, unless it's on a trigger brush.

Condition Zero is different from Counter-Strike in the terms that the development team re-made the original CS maps with new textures, models, etc. They also included the original CS maps, without this remaking.

The result is that CZ comes with a plethora of maps.

Included are maps such as cz_cs_office, cz_de_dust, etc. which are the Condition Zero remakes of the original levels. Also included are maps such as cs_de_stadium and cz_de_vostok which are entirely new Condition Zero levels, and the original CS maps are included for those who want to use the new CZ models and such.

Gameplay/editing/FGD shtuff is all the same, just make sure to use the latest 1.6 FGD. Afaik, there is no deleted scenes FGD available.

Dunno why you'd want to pay someone to make some custom maps.

Nah, you have to buy HL: Source and DoD: Source seperately or in the packages afaik, it's not like the deal with HL you can download any games.

Exactly. Afaik, here, they don't put an age limit on usage, only purchase. I could use a Paintball gun legally a LONG time ago and it was legal to use it, I'd assume teh same with Airsoft. (In any case, if you pump up the velocity on either and you could fatally injure someone, so they're treated pretty much as equal if I'm not mistaken.)

If you do threaten people with them though, the cops'll come, which means nasty situations (I'd know from semi-personal experience. Let's just say it involved an ice cream truck and a few paintball rounds. ;P)

Me as well, since they started preordering it last year before they knew anything about it : .

Thats a lacking gold edition for the price anyways. At least if you buy it over Steam you can get a cooler box, soundtrack, hat, sticker, C17 postcard, 3 HL posters and a chance to go to VALVe. For only $10 more too!

.max and .rmx are actually backups of the rmf and map files created when you save the map or rmf. (Thanks to Seventh for this vital information which saved the compo map of yours truly :P ). The real irrelevant files created on compile are the .p0, .p1, etc, .wic, .lin, and .prt files. DXF is a format used by many 3d modelling programs, like Maxon or MAX. You could probably make a map in one of these programs, I'm skeptical on it's playability, in terms of both scale and speeds, however.

The problem with using the islave model as a player model is that it lacks proper animations for HL multiplay. Use HLMV (link on links page) to see this model out of the game and to look at it's animation names; compare it to that of the player models and you'll find they're different.

You need to create new animations for DM play if you want it to work properly, or decompile the model, and hack the qc to rename the animation references (smds) to DM ones. There's a tutorial on modelling and simple qc hacking on this very site.

For more advanced modelling tutorials and help, the good folks at the Half-Life Improvement Team may be able to help you out. (Be sure to register for the forums and check out all the stickies in the 'Help Desk' forum for some good tips and tutorials.)

Usually, one uses an ambient_generic with a custom wav file in the following format:

Microsoft PCM, 8-bit, mono, unsigned, at 11025hZ.

You can also use a target_cdaudio to play the CD tracks.
