Mapping properly is just that: there's nothing to explain. For the record, I always use the smallest grid possible (VM detailing ftw). Map carefully. I haven't had a leak since my 1st/2nd map, and that was like two years ago.

in Null texture insanity! Post #149998
So do I (well, nodraw anyway). It saves me pulling apart brushes to apply nodraw. I texture as I go along (usually nodraw first, then dev and then actual textures). Takes a little longer, but the results are better IMO.

P2P is good also for finding all those B-Side, live and unreleased stuff that would be impossible to find because they're on rare editions/old-school records. I think, in this respect, there's nothing wrong with it. I myself have bought all the Foo Fighters albums, two Radiohead albums (gotta buy the rest) and a Queens of the Stone Age album. I'd be more than willing to buy some eels ones and a couple of Elliott Smith ones too (they're rather hard to find :P )

I do both actually: I warez and I buy. I find that if I've discovered a program/band that I really enjoy and like I may fork out money for it. I have this particular opinion concerning music: I buy CD's that I've downloaded first and really liked simply because I like having the CD's (and I can create 320kbps MP3's).

With games, most of the time its a hassle to warez it: most don't work, others need cracks and with cracks comes viruses (if you're not smart of course). I may get a new game in a h@x0r version, then when the price goes down I'll buy it (picked up Vice City pretty cheap, now I've got a proper backup - same as Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb). With music and games, most of the people behind them deserve money - hell, I'm partly in both of those industries (kinda) so I have an idea of how difficult it is for some.

Good words Alex. Sleep is a very interesting condition: its a time where the full potential of our minds is awakened. Unfortunately, its not controlable, which is why you have all those crazy dreams.

Freud (I think) once said that in our unconscious state is where the "id" lies: a place where deep, hidden thoughts come out. Some of these thoughts are genuinly disturbing.

Mmm.

I'm sorry, but I've been a Christian for all my life (forced, to be blunt) and it hasn't given me anything compared to stuff I've found out myself. Personally, I hate the idea that some sort of higher order is dictating my life. Fate, or destiny maybe, but a etheral being? It's very hard to believe in something that consistently lets us down (funny, I learnt that from an episode of Scrubs - that show pwns).

My favourite shot so far.
Excuse the dev textures, but its still all WIP at the moment. Thanks to Trapt for compilling the map and adding his special touch to the lighting, which has come out extremly well.

Here's the set.

EDIT: I am currently looking for a Gondola prop for use in my map. If anyone knows where I can get my hands on one, or can model one for me, I'd be very grateful (and you'd earn yourself a position in the readme file ;) )

Re-incarnation means that your inner-self comes back to inhabit a new body: it could be an animal or a human. Its believed that if you led a good life (i.e. following the "rules" of Buddhism) then you would be re-incarnated as a human. However, re-incaranated souls (for want of a better word) do not remember their previous lives, although there have been many examples of people being able to remember detailed episodes in a previous life.

Interesting stuff.

Buddhists believe in achieving nirvana, which is a perfect state of mind, at one with the world. They also believe in re-incarnation. Their god is Buddha.

You seem to forget that "religion" is more important than our world...
Wrong. That's opinion.
Think of everything that "religion" has done for the world...
Religious organisations are not the sole contributor to the wellbeing of the world. The number of non-religious organisations far outnumber them.
You think that because there are holy wars going on in the Middle East and because a bunch of morons yeeeears ago went on crusades that religion is bad?
Pretty much, yeah. Trace everything back and you'll see that it stems from some form of religion.

It can be said that religion is the sole cause of many of today's problems in the world. I wholeheartedly agree, and I'm a Catholic (not a particularly devout one at that. I believe in my own set of values and principles. Individuality is the best religion of them all).

I think something similar to this is planned in TWHL3: a Wiki-esque system. It was begun, but never finished.

Similarily, the tutorials used to have their own forums, but this was removed about two years ago because questions didn't get answered.

Strangely enough, a lot of people agree with ZombieLoffe on this matter. Now normally, I'm not one to get annoyed at the exploits of people on this site, I'm mostly a passive moderator. This recent stream of completly useless, pathetic and stupid threads has really pissed me off (combined with a complaint from an unnamed member about a small news post I made that was non-mapping related).

Considering that I've been here for over two years now, and that I've never, in any instance been told off for spamming, or for rowdy behaviour, I think that one small newspost (which I asked Alex permission first to post) is nothing.

If anymore of this crap threads appear, I'm simply going to close them out of anger. I've tolerated a lot from this site, but I think its time to get back and get even.
