I've just downloaded the version from the latest post. I have to say I have 2 gripes already.

First, never EVER include a config.cfg file with a mini-mod. The config file that came with this version is the absolute worse control setup I've ever experienced.

ASDF for movement keys!? WTF!?

File was promptly deleted.

Second, of the 90MB download, 30MB was the disco music...why?

Anywho, gonna try and actually play now.

You could probably port them to source and obviously you would need to re-animate them or code them. You couldn't release anything containing them though.

I've never had this issue with L4D mapping and as far as I have seen its identical to Source mapping, if not a little more versatile.

Well, I use photoshop but what I usually do is greyscale the original texture so that I have a better idea of which areas are higher than others (altering if necessary) and then sharpen the whole image before create a bumpmap using PS's NVidia Plug-ins.

My post appears to have vanished...

So...

Hey. We had a pretty awesome set of games on the server today. Except for the fact that we FUCKING DIDN'T!

The bots appear to crash every single custom map and the server oh-so-lovingly switches back to crossfire... (FUCKING CROSSFIRE FFS!)

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that even when they do work, they do nothing but completely annoy the FUCKING TITS OFF OF EVERY PLAYER!

We had a full server this evening and within 10 minutes of a map change it was empty. Hopefully this joint rant will make things clear.

Sincerely, a concerned citizen.

1. ATi have been notified several times according to a forum I checked out when I started experiencing the problem.

2. They know, but they don't care.

3. Valve? No. ATi? Unlikely.

However, its like Penguinboy said. "Anything's possible." I'm sure that somewhere within the vast HL mapping community, there is a dedicated programmer looking into the issues that Hammer 3.x has and improving them.

That person is awesome.

Other mods who want to use the model will have to get the coding done themselves.

Spirit won't need additional coding. It already has a models and skins selection option in the monster_scientist entity.

EDIT: Hair and Accessories models would need coding you're right. Anywho, the source models are included with every HL model. You just need to decompile them.

in Varied Science [modeling] Post #273487
Hey guys.

Just wanted to show off a little something I've been doing recently. Basically, after seeing Black Mesa's flex modeling technique that can create hundreds of unique faces, I decided that the science team in HL1 could stand to be a little more varied.

So, using the Blue-Shift model Rosenberg head as a template I created 4 sub model heads, all the same size but with major adjustments to facial features. Once that was done I created 3 different skins for the head mesh. The result was 12 unique bald scientists of varying age. Yay!
User posted image
However, by adding another set of sub models for hair, and another for facial hair and possibly another for accessories (glasses, pencils behind ears and so forth) there could be an overwhelming number of variations.

Here's my problem, I cannot model worth a shit. I would like someone, preferably with a decent amount of modeling and skinning experience to create hairstyle models. The general head shape is the same for all 4 sub models so 1 hairstyle would fit all 4 heads. However if all 4 hairstyles used the same skin, then they could easily be re-coloured by myself to fit the skins used on the faces.

If your interested in helping out, let me know. If you just like the sound of this project, you can let me know that too. :^_^:

Huntsman Spider? Jesus. I would shit all over my house if I ever came across one of those. I'm still freaked out by the common British house spider. They're currently in season and my house is 120 years old so I find at least 1 every day. Fucking creepy.
User posted image
Luckily, they mostly come out of drains and get stuck in sinks and the bath. The other night my missus found one floating in a glass of orange juice.

The only thing that creeps me out more are Silverfish which unfortunately my old house is also renowned for.

Jurassic Park
A fantastic film which unfortunatly became the opening to a terrible trilogy. The original is the best because the first hour or so portrays a simple holiday scenario in a believable world of fantasy. It then rapidly becomes a nightmare. I saw it in the cinema as a child and I had never been so amazed while at the same time genuinely terrified.

28 Days Later
Fantastically Horrifying. I mean come on! A handful of people against the entire population of Great Britain who just so happen to be so overwhelmingly murderously fucked off.
