My theory is, Frohman will quickload to the bit right back at the start of the comic where he says "hmm, looks dangerous. Better quicksave" then curses because he's lost all his progress.
That actually makes sense. Maybe it will end up like that.

I'll miss this comic. 'Twas a good, long run but all good things must come to an end.

I recommend Afraid of Monsters. A zombie horror type modification... it have awesome ambience and gameplay...!!
I can't believe I didn't think to say Afraid of Monsters. Definitly check that one out.

I think the avatars used to be up to 200. Diehard, if you didn't know, there is a "big screen TWHL" option in your profile that lets avatars show up to 150 pixels.

It does give an uncanny reminder of FEAR. The texturing looks really bizzare. Nothing seems to match :( And that concrete texture doesn't look right. It looks too repetitive, or the contrast is too much or something, it just looks odd.

Who knows if there a limit to how big the max viewable distance can be set to(or rather, a max distanc that the game will render once you play your map)? I tried setting it to 8000 for Brushopolis but the buildings still went out of sight, so I set it to 10000 but I could see no difference. It looked like the buildings left my sight at the same distance. I've never worked with something this big before.

There's something that just doesn't look right about these bushes. I don't like them being there, any ideas? I can't put in trees, it woul,d be too repetitive and there's not enough room anyway.

Edit: I've just dicovered that the size of this map causes a rocket shot form the rpg to actually lose its tracking about a 4th of the way into its path. Now that's big.

I've heard of this idea before, I've actually wanted to try it for some time.
Those who make good maps don't make them overnight, it takes months to learn how to make quality ones.

Much like the chrome effect
The chrome effect works much much differently. Its not just something you apply to a skin, otherwise the chrome doesn't work right. Real chrome isn't based on the UVmap of the model, its simply distributed all at once evenly over every part of the mesh but isn't actually affected by the UVmap, if that makes sense. What you get as a result is a skin that can be shiney if set to chrome, but is black or unskinned-looking if its not chrome(because its not based on the UVmap so the model "thinks" that there is no skin).

I don't understand the problem people have with Source... I love the new graphics, the realism... I think some people just need to learn to suck it up and adapt to the new gameplay.
Weapon kickback was obliterated in CSS. That's the reason I hear the most.

Its really simple. REALLY simple. Put an mp3 in your mod folder and ingame open the console and type "mp3 play <mp3 path>". Unless you are talking about multiplayer, in which you are right. at least for HL1 you're right.

Caboose, nothing against your personal taste, but I think that there is nothing uglier than a city at dusk. An orange lit city is just... ugh to me. I like morning or night personally.

All right, I got a compile that actually finished. It was on fast vis, but at least it's lit now:
I like this screenshot the best. It makes the map look more "full" if you know what I mean.

I took out a few traffic lights. Still extremely wide open and blocky and the r_speeds are much, much better but still pretty colossal. Meh, I like it and I know how much change a few cars can bring.

There isn't much difference because I've spent most of my time working on optimizing and trying to get a working compile out of this.
The street "outline" along the edge of the map will be clipped off. I also removed the top layer of the sky because it would have passed through it to see the whole city.
I refuse to let this map die! I will get it working AND it will be playable!
