If it flashed a DOS prompt, or if you can go Start - Run and type G: and have it open a folder, then it worked.

Terrain's done. I also tweaked the textures on one of the bases and added some light fixtures....delete/retexture/do whatever. Just give me credit where necessary :P .

You need to change those pathnames to where you installed steam. In my case, it's C:ValveSteam, but in many others it's C:Program FilesValveSteam.

You can delete the hammer one, or change it to your hammer directory.

It shouldn't matter where the default wads are as the game always looks in the GCF for them.

Custom wads need to be in cstrike though.

Check there on how to write a batch file that may help you solve this problem. Make sure after substing your drives to set the output dir to G:half-lifevalvemaps.

You do have WAD files, they're just in the half-life.gcf file.

Get GCFScape, open it up, and extract teh WADs:

w_poly = World polygons. (World brushes in hammer [ie non entity brushes])

r_speeds = Render speeds.

VIS = Visibility program of the compiling process.

RAD = Radiant (lighting) program of the compiling process.

func_wall = function_wall, SolidEntity. Very flexible, used from anything from fences to light fixtures.

gl_wireframe 2 = console command used to draw your map in wireframe.

Brush splitting = Part of the map where two world brushes intersect and split, as all brushes in a single entity split each other, and the world is treated as a single entity.

Did I miss something?

target_cdaudio plays the CD tracks.

It's not crappy music!

Poke646 used an ambient_generic and a WAV file to play the custom music.

Probably because of the carving.

Take the steel pushable barrel prefab, turn it to world, hollow it, and then func_wall it if desired and add the water in the middle, which might need some clipping or VM to fit. .

Afaik there can only be one decals.wad. You might want to try backing up the default valve decals.wad and replacing it with yours, or making a minimod to test your decals.

This is caused by trying to launch the game with Hammer in post-compile. Launch the map manually by starting HL/CS/whatever, opening the console, and typing map mapname where mapname is the er, name of your map.

It's a mix of RTS and FPS. The commander of teh Marines plays from a top-down view, and ordrers his marines, while controlling upgrades and purchasing weapons. The aliens are under less control, though this often means fewer coordinated attacks. The objectives of both teams are to collect resources and destroy the other team. Resources are needed for upgrades like gun upgrades for the marines or evolution upgrades for the aliens. Destroying the other team's Hive, if you're a marine, or Command Console, if you're an alien, will win your team the game.

There's much more, but that's just a quick intro.

Far Cry is torture in a 40 dollar box. The thing is laggy on a new machine at a medium detail level, and it has one-shot-one-kill stuff like Splinter Cell and R6 and run-and-gun stuff like HL...it strikes an uneasy balance between the two.

The blue needs to be the last color in the palette (255), and should be pure blue (RGB 0, 0, 255) .

Have you recently tried re-downloading? Or, install WON and just install game, and it'll convert the WON files into a GCF file for Steam.

You could make the door 'Not Solid' or 'Passable' and then it could be shot through.

Don't see why it needs a clip brush, if it's that small of a hole.

I don't really see why you want to import things into it, custom mdls and such can go in your SteamAppsyour@username.hereHalf-Lifevalve, and then in their respective folders.
