Make a brushed based tree. Could be dead, alive, whatever.
You have 9 days.
Must have Playable BSP and RMF in zip format.
Needs not be in the vault. External host is preferred ;)
Unless you submit as a pre-fab.
Custom textures must be wad-included.
We all know steel and rust doesnt grow on trees.
Nor are trees pressure treated lumber (damn hl.wad)
Ready..... GO!
Deadline : May 8th. Or whenever we have more than 2 entries.

what if you have light_spots instead of light_enviroments. Set them to emit from the sky and i believe they can be toggled on and off.
you can throw in an env_fade effect to mask the light change and give it a sweeter effect.

as for the rain.....
try a scrolling dot texture on a grid of func_illusionarys
with an env_render telling them to render when triggered.
That could work ?

Just add some sound in there:-p
wait
this is source (just noticed)
idk if that'll work >.<

in triangle floor method Post #249146
this is for realistic terrain im guessing.

you want to select all the triangles (wedges, really) and then using vertex manipulation, drag a square around a few pieces and pull in the Z direction (up) to raise and lower the parts of the triangles.

use his search to find your error
read up on the solutions
and fix them :)
it'll solve your headaches faster than you can create them.

And any other questions you have, toss a question into the HL mapping section, or use the search in the top left.

""Search for: __ in Tutorials / Maps / Forums etc etc ""

You'll be surprised how many people come up with the same error.

BTW

The only problem would be finding a way to constantly draw unused energy from the infinity of space.
They tried that on stargate once. It didn't work.

magnetic rail system. The same stuff used on roller-coasters, but on a larger scale. We can just wait until we have a clear shot at the sun, and Boom...
Plus we'll extend the lifetime of our sun by about oh... 3 seconds overall.

Well that's the major problem. And i knew i was gonna catch flak for saying stuff like that.

http://www1.eere.energy.gov/solar/printable_versions/current_voltage.html

Explains which factors affect the efficiency

And this graph:
User posted image
shows the cell efficiency.

And by top secret, i basically meant.. research stuff. PV cells (The more scientific name) are achieving higher efficiencies penguin.

So all those purple things on that graph can be explained here.

Don't think i didn't do my research.

http://www.terradaily.com/news/solarcell-05f.html
We have seen steady progress in photovoltaic concentrator technology. We are working with advanced multijunction PV cells that are approaching 38% efficiency, and even higher is possible over time. Our goal is to install PV concentrator systems at $3 per watt, which can happen soon at production rates of 10 megawatts per year. Once that happens, higher volumes are readily achieved," Hayden, Solar Program Coordinator at APS, said.
Of course.. those aren't "cells" They're units that track the sun, and convert it into energy better than cells themselves.

Yeah. But even the best solar panels are only 40% efficient. And I'm talking the best here. Most fall in the 20%-30% efficiency range, and the energy savings just don't cover the power made to build them sometimes.
But i do like solar panels :)

Then you want models. Or Props. Make a point entity and call it a prop_static. This is the basic static proop it just sits there and does nothing. Under model, hit browse and you can search for which model you want. Hit apply, and viola! You should have a prop in your map

Did you try a cordon compile?
Omg and i live by the compilator. :)

AND muzz,
Take a look at this tutorial to see what its all about: Leafs, what are they? Im doing the same.
that tutorial is b0rked. I tried to email the dude but i guess his email doesnt exist anymore.. here's what i was GOING to say to him
in one part quoted here ::

""
BSP separates this map into 3 leafs (cells) and 2 portals which the next diagram(the PLAN view) demonstrates,

""

Says there are 3 leafs and 2 portals
YET the text below the gray box says otherwise:

""

The red boxes are the leafs while the blue boxes are the portals. The generated *.prt file looks like,
PRT1
3
2
4 0 1 (352 -240 -448 ) (352 -384 -448 ) (352 -384 -384 ) (352 -240 -384 )
4 1 2 (288 -240 -448 ) (288 -384 -448 ) (288 -384 -384 ) (288 -240 -384 )

The following information can be extracted from the *.prt,
* On the second line 3 indicates the number of portals in the level.
* On the next line 2 indicates the number of leafs in the level.
""

So up top it says there's 3 leafs and 2 portals
But down bottom it says there's 2 leafs and 3 portals.

I'm confused.
so.. yeah

:(( sorry to hear that rim :(
Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy haven't failed me yet. I don't even have norton or Macafee and i have zero viruses and only like 1 or 2 minor spyware things a month.

Plus Spybot has that thing where it asks permission to make any changes to your registry. REALLY handy because it gives you all the information you need to make an educated decision.

I'd say, roll back your comp a month or 2 (using system restore, you do have it right??) , get Adaware, Spybot, scan, scan, reboot, scan again. And pray it works, and Have a wonderful easter. :)

And i do believe there's a limited registry cleaner (i think it's called registry mechanic?) to get rid of any left over traces..
