Software mode means that you aren't running in OpenGL or Direct3D.

By the way, how does ZHLT not work?

There's little chance I could finish the city by the time the compo is over, as I have about 1/10 of it complete. I don't even have a clear grasp of what I want it to look like, and I'm not compelled to continue working on it.

Sorry, but this is just one of those things I lost interest in rather quickly.

I'm not even entering anymore, for two reasons.

Reason 1: WCD will whoop all our asses.

Reason 2: I hate everything about my current city.

I hope I'll like the other minicompos better.

Okay, new topic: Your least favorite game of all time!

For me, I'm not really sure what it is, because I normally only buy games that get fairly high reviews. I might guess that mine is Stuntman. That's the most frustrating game I've ever played in my life.

Many dogs wouldn't be inclined to attack an intruder like that, it's just that people perceive them as dangerous.

Anyway, most people don't get pets to be useful, they're just there for the company.

Cats suck.
No. You're wrong. I'm right. The end. :)

It's really all about your preferences. I don't personally like some animal jumping and yelping around me all the time, begging for attention (not to say all or most dogs do that). I don't see many dogs doing that much on their own, either. They seem kind of static, like they're just waiting around until you call them. This could be fine though, if you don't want them doing that kind of thing.

Besides , I just like a meow better than a bark.

Kind of hard to tell that, really.

Although cats do seem more independant than dogs. You don't see them following their owner around everywhere, and you see them kill their own food a lot, too.

There are no interesting active threads
So here it is, the interesting thread. Talk about whatever comes to mind, from your cat sleeping in front of your monitor, to your least favorite game, and maybe even what you had for breakfast.

Try to keep it as un-spammish as possible, though.

Would it be okay if, instead of allowing the player to move through the map freely, I just used a camera sequence? I don't know if I'll actually end up doing this, I was just wondering, since it could be pretty cramped.

There's a floor areas size restriction? The rules page just says 32 units per floor, but nothing about overall size restriction, did it?

I was planning on doing some kind of futuristic city that was built way up into the sky, above a layer of toxic-looking clouds, but kind ditched that when I heard that the intention of the buildings was supposed to be clear. :P

Now I'm just going for a "normal" city, as it seems everybody else is.

Well, I'm absolutely fine with the scale restriction, as long as it's not too small. I just don't want to have to be able to connect them all at the end. otherwise, it's fine.

By the way, is there going to be any restriction that limits you to making a "normal" city?

I really don't like the preset scale/connectivity thing at all. What if you wanted to have different terrain heights, or a different theme than another person? I personally think it's just too restrictive.

I'd be fine with having only a certain amount of space (like 512x512 block) to build in, though.

in Advanced Brushwork Mini-Compos Post #189035
Hold up there, Jimmi! Let's not get ahead of ourselves, now! You might start to make something, then realize it's not in compliance with the rules, whatever they are...

And also, I would vote against using Spirit, it would possibly give people that use it an unfair advantage. Besides, why bother using a 3D skybox, when you could just build that stuff on a normal scale? It's not like anybody said there's a polygon limit!
