i downloaded the patch and the winner for the water comps mod worked but when i selected easy to play it, a box popped up saying half life encountered a problem and than it exited out. And it kept doing it

man thats wrong if you dont erase the part where it says " unfortunetly zeeba-G forgot to change the skybox. I mean cmmon "yea i forgot to change the entire sky but i didnt forget to put a small light at the bottom of the outside drain. I didnt forget to put drains connecting all of the water ways. I didnt forget to put a black texture on the inside of everydoor so that textures wouldnt overlap eachother. I didnt forget to put a stem growing from each lilly flower. but that big ol sky musta sneeked right passed meh.

my version of hl isnt 1.1.1.0, i think its like 1.0.0.9, or something, ill check when i get home. "its the original cd of hl "its old"i cant even play dm on line thow i think its bc of my account.

well i even tryed this w the first place water comp entry. I unzipped the file, placed it into my half-life folder, ran hl/custom game/refreshlist, and nothing popped up but a few old games i dont even have. Maybe my hl is like out of date or something? or am i doing something wrong.

when i download a mod and place the file into my sierra/half-life folder, than when i play hl and press"custom game and refresh list", the mod doesnt show up. Any suggestions?

next time ill leave a file that describes the map bc it isnt even a base. If you get past one of the locked doors by jumping onto the double waterfall and onto the ledge, you can walk through some doors to a secret office that has a picture of big brother on a telescreen. The map is supposed to be a section of workspaces from the book 1984 but more futuristic.

i myself just make water very clear. When you look at water in real life, if you scoop it up in a clear cup it is very clear but if the bottom of the water"the ground under the water" is something dark like mud, the water will look dark... btw that water in the video looked like crap like it was emmiting light and way to wavy.

im thinkin of buying milkshape 3d but i am wondering a few things...

With the program alone can you add movements to your created models. And i mean movements as simple as the xen hair on half life 1.

Also, is it extremely hard to get good at if you give it time, or can you eventualy make almost anything... i want to make some custom very simple monsters etc...

If i win ill be so glad because i have some realy great ideas for a next competition that would draw many entries. main reason i entered:) I hope the twhl competitions dont ever die down" its my only real source of motivation being that i cant even play multiplayer w my out of date hl and computer.

whenever i try it and hit go , this is what pops up.

well im just glad i got my map done. whenever im fealin overrun by so much stuff out in the real world, i can just run the map and relax. My inspiration came realy from fishing small ponds and my love for architecture and rainy days. I wish the halflife engine could handle more because i would build on so much more to the map.

strike 1? lol and edit button for what ? oh and i spent many many hours on my map, i just dont know how to compile including wads or how to do anything like that so i wasnt even able to make it a mod. Realy thow i didnt make it into a mod because for some reason my computer doesnt even play mods, ... i put mods in the half-life folder and when i hit refresh list, none of my mods show up. And how would i have compiled my map to use sounds from a dif mod, whatever very confusing...

how exactly do i enter commands, they wont work. I push f9, select expert, select new, click cmds and chose csg program, than click parms and type "-wadinclude metalandbluetextures.wad" or w out . wad at the end. Did i do something wrong?

im done with my map now but im runnin into some issues. I have 2 custom sounds and 1 set of custom textures. I use hammer's compile tools so when i press f9, ive tryed typing $file$path -wadinclude metalandbluetextures all over the place but i dont think its working. And when i compile my map in half life, how is the sounds supposed to work when i run it through my newly created mod. it would be awesomejawesome if yalled just let me slip by w out makin a mod bc im runnin out of time and i realy want to enter my map.

yea i will probably need help hosting mine too. Lol while making my map, half way through, hammer became so slow that it took like an hour to apply a texture so i began making the other half of the map on another map file and when i finish today ill past it all together:) tightness.
