(sorry if this sounds sadistic but..)
Considering you already have a family, don't you think a second child will just impose on your education? I know people with families at university, and looking after a young child is a full time job!

someone should create a program that modifies the map in order for it to not work with winbsp, I bet it'd only be a simple change to the .bsp

I have a firewall and an icewall

I don't see the point of 2 firewalls unless you think stopping traffic at your computer as well as your router actually helps, not that it will

No, and you dont even need to clip it if you are using zoners halflife tools, it does it automagically for you!

I think designing a map with complicated sequences, taking into account the latency of others, is much more challenging that being given a blank slate. Limitations are what make halflife so fun to map for, I just love to try and break them in every way I can.

Overlord is very complicated (I can barely understand it myself now), but fun for people with all kinds of connections. The netcode is suprisingly resiliant, even when you are trying to control 14 people parachuting, each looking at themselves through 14 cameras!

in the best way? Post #8195
think about how the material would break in real life and try to mimic it.

eg. a brick wall, leave some bricks sticking out or pointing in random directions, displaced by the breakage
or a cement wall, most explosions would leave a circular, slightly jagged hole, with pockets created for minor blast damage, think of the wall as if being plasticine pushed inwards with your thumb
do remember that rockets cause some explosive damage, but are rarely ever as powerful in real life as in games, if you care for the whole realism thing anyway ;)

A mod uses 'modified' halflife code, hence the name. I don't consider maps as mods, there has to be some manipulation involved.

(I think I'm fighting a losing battle as i'm not even entirely sure what im talking about)

you can't just straight decompile a map, there'll be major brush errors and the decompilee will have to put a lot of effort in to even get the map playable.

There isn't a hard and fast way to stop people from doing it, either respect your fellow mappers enough to not steal your work (I've never seen a case of it in 6 years of mapping), make the map so damn complex the decompiler just crashes (this ususally happens concerning my maps ;) or try compiling a few wads in, winbsp doesnt like this very much.

Other than that there isn't much you can do, sorry!

I cry for you for choosing BT over a decent isp
576 is what your router reports to you, it isn't functioning at that speed in any way. Also you wont get 512 because of packet overheads, expect something about 476.

IT DOESNT DAMAGE RPC FFS ARGHHH
All msblast does is forcefully close RPC, XP therefore goes 'oh bugger' and activates the auto shutdown unless you turn it off.

Now please use windows update in future..

It means you have too many DYNAMIC lights in your map, that is lights that are named and therefore can be triggered. RAD has to compile a lightmap for these as if they were turned on AND off.

Just make them normal lights and you'll be ok, unless you desperately need the effect.

maccy d, its fuel for your body. Quite literally. There is no actual nutritional value contained within it to define it as 'food'. It is simply fuel and will keep you alive in the same way that a car will keep running, don't expect to live off it though.
